New language

So, I`m thinking to start learning a second foreign language apart of English

I`m caught between French, Chinese, German and Russian


I was thinking to go for French now, since they`re somewhat identical to English

Any thoughts from you guys??

Of course the most difficult language for you to learn must be chinese, I don't think you will make much success there. Considering german I would say there's many simililarities with english, even more then to french vocabulary wise, but french has an easier grammar in my opinion. I can't help you with russian, even though it seems not harder than german or french, but I don't speak russian so.

I believe the same about chinese, but IMO I have to give it a shot, if not now, mose definetly in the future.

The cyrilic alphabet was taken from the Greek alphabet, so it has many similarities with the Greek one, so it might be easier for me?

Is there any impulse your future career might give to your decision?  If not,  I would choose upon the culture that interests you most/ the country you would most likely like to visit a few times in future.

I would probably go with russian cause it sounds so fucking awesome

Nope, English is enough for what I`m studying, but still, you never know how life brings things  (possible migration) , so I have to be ready for everything.

Spanish or French; first is the most spoken language (as first language, after Chinese) second is considered the international language. Par excellence. Ohh lala. German in alternative. Don't consider Chinese, we from western nations have too many difficulties in that, same goes for Russian (also Russia is bad place). 4th alternative would be Italian, best language in the world (you know I'm not a nationalist but italian is beautiful to me)

Just joking, if you are looking for the most use, i would go chinese, I'm sure it will become invaluable in years to come, i was thinking of learning it.

Well, in time German is like to be the new world language anyway. We are currently taking over the EU.. you'll see.

Anyway, I'd myself either go for Spanish or French. I already had 4 years of French in school so I know the basics, it's not that difficult to learn if you really want it and do it properly (ie. speaking with other native French).

However I think German is really the easiest language to learn ever! Ask DKG!!
