Cool! Really good news. I dont need all those shitty fakes like WoTR or Chivalry, we've been waiting sequel of best medieval battle game! Total war with 3rd\1st person view! Hope my favorite mod cRPG will be adapted for M&B2... If it will be needed i could helpmod developers with some work... hehe. Best news since Rome-2: total war! :o

Where is Mlecke - lier madafaka :P i knew he was just trolling us! Mount&Blade is not dead its alive! And cRPG not dead!!! :P

Judging from the content they reveal in the trailer, I'd say it could be out by 2014 December 2010.

Fixed for you.  :)

But joke aside, I really expected some gameplay. Damn teasing.
The video description says it'll be released the "coming months", nice bone to throw around, and play with.

I dont care about graphics at all, worse graphics but bigger battles is hey okay with me. Also hope that M&B2 will pretty much be a finetuned version of warband, such as jumping (unless the jumping buggyness is only in crpg, lol should play some native..) being fixed, more props and better hitbox meshes or w/e its called. M&B2 has great potential, lets hope they dont mess this up! (which they probably wont but im not expecting too much either :/ )

Judging loosely from the other trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIz_eiHIBd0), this is probably what it will be.....slight graphics updating and then mostly gameplay improvements.

me2 but we already saw a mini map horse in the previous video. so its not happening.

so yeah not expecting any drastic changes in m&b 2. probably just graphics/engine update. hopefully co-op.

theres a game which got steam greenlit and looks a bit like a m&B open world game to me. its called kenshi, it looks promising.

I'd say we the community make a blatant copy of cRPG with similar features but a couple of changes like upping the combat speed etc... And getting good admins to admin the servers for M&B2.

Who's with me? No more oppression!

We might have to kidnap CMP though for his computer skillz.

theres a game which got steam greenlit and looks a bit like a m&B open world game to me. its called kenshi, it looks promising.

Kenshi looks nothing like M&B, it doesn't even have directional combat. You just click and order your character/s to attack.

Kenshi is very appealing to me, however, due to the open sandbox.

Also, M&B2, I don't know about it. Is there anyone else with really low expectations?

Anyone know if the cRPG devs are in touch with TW about potential collaboration/vontribution to a cRPG aspect to online play in Multiplayer?
I think it would both improve M&B2, and perhaps allow more resources and perhaps reward to the cRPG devs.
I'm sure if TW were contacted, they wouldnt mind having the guys who made (probably?) the most comprehensive MP mod of warband on board.

Banner a body of men or troops who follow a banner; a group of knights.

I just don't understand why they didn't just call it Mount & Blade II. But yeah, ofcourse there is not going to be a gameplay trailer out all of a sudden if they haven't even officially announced the game.

If they were able to make Warband, I have every bit of trust that this will be a good game aswell. I just hope they will expand upon the solid basis that Mount & Blade has always had and not try something completely new to appeal to the masses. Though with the good community contact they've had in the past, I'm sure they will not fuck over their old fanbase.

house names, house banners etc. (every lord in same house has same banners)

I'm probably not going to bother calling this Bannerlord. The only reason I refer to M&B: Warband as Warband is because... well... M&B is already a game that is not M&B: Warband. So, this shall just simply be M&B2... simple.

Names aside, I'm more interested to see what they've done with the combat... (Also if there's a chance for a co-op option, but combat first.)

D: You have done a great job improving the combat system from M&B WB. Between the horizontal strokes of M&B and animations more elaborate WB - in which you added the possibility of kicking - there is an abyss. How are you going to do with M&B2? It will be simple evolution, or plan to totally revolutionize the system of strikes and blocks?
R: We are re-doing everything again, we are not using anything from the old games. As for the game mechanics, I know for sure we are going to work on the parry system. We implemented it into the later versions of Warband. We are also rewriting all the animations for blocking, for example. Blocking was nice, but you know, was a little “blocky”, back then. There are some attacks that you can’t just stop with an upper block, you have to divert it, we are taking care of stuff like that. It’s going to be an evolution, as you said, not a revolution. The combat system is going to be essentially the same, but it’s going to be improved. A lot. We changed programming language and everything…

D: speaking of phisics, how will the players interact with the environments in M&B2?
R: It’s still very early to talk, but we would like the game environment to be interactive as much as possible. The ideal would be to have the player pick-up, destroy and throw stuff. We are rebuilding, or should I say building, a physics engine from scratches.
So, no more heirlooming rocks then? You just pick them off the ground? =p

Quote
D: You know there had been many successful modifications for the game, and one of the best known is the Strategus – cRPG, which allows the players to have some sort of multiplayer campaign. Will there be any feature like that in the game to come?
R: at this stage a multiplayer, competitive or cooperative looks still pretty difficult to make.

R: there won’t be a module system anymore. It’s going to be a lot more accessible, the whole structure of the game is being rewritten, tenths of times, for the modders to do whatever they please. We created a new game from scratches. What has started as a husband and wife project has expanded, as you know, and the new code began accumulating on top of the old code. It became a little clumsy, it is natural. Have you messed with the shader file, for example?

D: I didn’t have the courage. But I remember seeing the zombie texture around the folder, a few times.
R: exactly. Many things right now are hard coded, like animations, that can’t be changed without the help of a developer. You won’t have as many limitations in M&B 2.

D: Regarding the map, will there be a new map? Will the world change, will it remain the same? How’s it going to be for single-player lovers?
R: the game, in terms of campaign and the world itself has changed like three times from now, but we are pretty confident we are going to keep this version. Let’s just say we are going to expand what you already know about Calradia.

D: Warband opened a completely new market and a completely new fanbase for the M&B franchise. It also created a new genre for multiplayer games, a niche that some other software houses are trying to exploit. How is Taleworlds going to deal with the competition?
R: Ah, the competition… let’s just say we’ll carry on doing what we can do best: offer some historically plausible, rock-hard gameplay. That’s what we are trying to keep for the multiplayer.

D: Are you going to focus more on a more accessible playability or are you going to keep on going on the track opened by Warband?
R: Of course, there won’t be anything like a Viking battling a space marine (although it would be awesome n.d.r.), but we won’t be focusing on a specific year. No French vs. English, for example. We are going to expand, stretch and bend it a little. Let’s just say that.

D: still about the multiplayer, there is a diffused concern regarding TW’s support of the multiplayer community. In regards especially to “official” community sporting events, like the NC and the ENL, and in general the competitive side of the gaming. Will there be in M&B 2 a more stable and organized supports for clans, players, maps?
R: we have been talking about it a lot by now. The Nations’ Cup support, or the new website, which is a little old by now, but was intended to work as some sort of portal page, where you could register your profile, your serial, see the games you owned and stuff like that. Our best effort was put in creating a stable community that supported us, and for which we could produce stuff for. We are also working on some sort of official ladder, a series of official tournaments.

D: what about players IDs? Will there be a system to officially recognize player names and clans?
R: we are really thinking about it, we like the idea of a player account usable for the forums, the community, the game, the data being gathered in some separate database, accessible from other computers, for example. We are working on it.

D: And now for a particularly interesting point concerning the Italian community: will there be an official Italian translation?
R: the only translations done until now were done by players, so probably yes. The localizations were made by players who approached us, then the translations would be revised and corrected, and finally accepted.
And it is because the community OWNS the game. There have been contributions, suggestions that have been put into the game. This sense of property is maybe one of the reasons why we have such a loyal and affectionate community.

D: Still, there has been a recent controversy, which can be somehow told like this: the attitude has changed a lot since the very beginnings where community-developers interaction was the norm, to this day.
R: We are a lot bigger now. When I got hired first, there was five people at TW. Now we are 25. Working on a bigger, better, stronger game. We don’t really have much to show now, not just yet. There has been no official press release, you know, but the word is out there. But once we are ready to show something to you guys, we’ll get back on track, receiving millions and millions of tons of feedback and comments. We are going to get back on track. We are not a huge, faceless corporate company: the community is all we’ve got.
We’ll get back on track, I promise.

D: the most important question of all: in M&B2 will there be dinosaurs?
R: *laughs* only if you dig deep enough!

Would be nice, though, to know if it's gonna be multi-player and whether they're planning linux release for this one.

All who bitches about name Bannerlord. You are ignorant dudes just go and learn english:

Banner a body of men or troops who follow a banner; a group of knights.

Love how you call people ignorant and tell them "just go and learn English" when you didn't add a large E in English and when you just shortly earlier admit to not even knowing what a Bannerlord is yourself until you bother Googling it yourself.
Nah... I dont care what does mean "Bannerlords" in english, its sounds good for me, that's enough! Its like if i would translate text of Painkiller by Judas Priest in Russian it would sounds like stupid words, but it sounds COOL and i dont care of meaning!!! :D

Yeah, english is not my native language. And yes i used internet to find out definition of word "Bannerlord". And so? Now i know it - what does mean Bannerlord in context of medieaval game - Lord Of Knights. So stop bitching guys about name of game, and about my English! :P

P.S. Called ignorant those english speaking ppl who just don't know all definitions of word "banner"!

Cause I love warband MP and crpg, but without singleplayer Mount and Blade like 5 eons ago, we would never be where we are.

Amen.

Multiplayer is good and all, but single player was what made me fall in love with mount&blade. Here's hoping the SP part becomes more badass!

Perhaps we might even see tournaments that do not consist of circling around the map stabbing all the AI stuck at the walls. The singleplayer had so much faults but was still so awesome, they can make so much obvious improvements that will really make it glorious.

Multiplayer on the other hand, is rather polished apart from the huge fuck ups in the balance department. So scared that they will break something, well at least they have the right fanbase focused attitude.

Warband SP is dynamic, time actually matters in that game. Kinda hard to create custom quests with triggers and shit like in other games. That and the low budget are the reasons why quests are crap.

Maybe Taleworlds will get a clue and make a cRPG-ey multiplayer mode in the base game rather than relying on a few mods to keep their game's popularity up. I'm not saying mods are bad, they are the best thing ever. I'm saying taking inspiration from successful mods (a bit like bethsoft did with TES) is a good thing.

They already did sort of that with Mount and Musket, but you have to take into account that a lot of people do not like the levelling system and prefer to just hop on a server and start killing without having to think too much.
You could do this with STFs, but in general it might deter more people from playing than help it, dont know...

Ideally cRPG gets ported to Bannerlord multiplayer with a minimum of effort required, everyones gold/xp/looms intact.
More likely is a full wipe before we switch to Bannerlord.

Pretty simple to do:

On login screen player is given choice:
1) Join as adverturer (c-RPG esque advancement character)
2) Quickjoin as mercernary (login like current native, with character classes to choose from, and gear upgrades based on battle performance gold)

I think -PW- and -CRPG- MUST be in M&B2, if few guy/s made those 2 awesome mods, why 25 proffesional persons can't?

If you give 1 million of euros/dollars/pounds to taleworlds, they will make a trailer and a better game, but you are noobs as me, and you can't make a game called -mount and blade 2 bannerlord-, which has to be better than warband, so less cry and more smile, I'm more than happy with the current information given in the interview

What kind of coop sp ARE YOU talking about? Fighting together vs bots in sp campaign? Boring.
I prefer if they could make gamemode kinda strategus but of course in 3d, more polished, player-friendly, much more faster, to have many fun battles, not so boring shit as we have strat now, with carebear alliances, lack of balance and aggresive gameplay for randomers and newbies like me and many others. Let ppl gain their own armies of bots and fight others players in commader battle mode like in Napoleonic - i found that gamemode funny.

Oh please.. it'd be fun as hell especially in some of the mods where the campaign is actually very challenging and fun. Native's good but it has a lot to be desired.

Plus fighting alongside a friend cleaving through armies or attacking each other.. come on that'd be fun.

Not that I wouldn't like your suggestion but I would love co-op campaign.

If you're talking about battle time, it only allows your friends to join your battles through hosting a multiplayer server with the corresponding troops and map from the singleplayer.
'Tis very restricted.

They can be your vassal still. Besides there is tax loss if you own too much although I'm not sure if that was in native or just a mod I played a lot.

Plus playing against a friend after a while would be interesting. Would be lame if it came down to all horse archers or cav though. They better make good ways to have an all infantry force that can actually withstand cav since cav just mows down infantry. Bring in actual pikemen and formations.

Actually I find cav in SP quite balanced when you make each cav unit use 1.5 or 2 squad slots.

I would definetly enjoy some sort of ingame SP coop/competitive play a la Civ. Create a game with a handful of people and let them do whatever they want. The timing could be difficult to handle though. Maybe it could work if each battle a player engages makes the other players play a guy from the other side.

Ya know, I have been trying to live a more responsible life and it has been going relatively well...Then I see this shit. I mean, crack cocaine is illegal, I think for the safety/security of all us poor addicts (crpg, not crack) I oughta start petitioning my local congressman to extend the laws to taleworlds games. Or maybe just a rehab center would suffice.
