Title: More Metal Sounds compatibility
Post by: Dexxtaa on January 05, 2011, 02:22:36 pm
Updated 1/31/2014
You will get some script errors here and there, but I haven't really pinned down exactly which sounds are making the error. But it's rare enough to not be intrusive, regardless.

More Metal Sounds for cRPG
(click to show/hide)

Installation instructions (Courtesy of Sinisstra_von_Perkele):
The sound pack is linked in this thread: http://forum.melee.org/suggestions-corner/new-heirloom-models-%28and-web-gui%29/
And direct link to the zip file: http://joeflashedme.com/crpg/Finalboss_sounds.zip

It requires more metal sounds too, but those files don't override each others so it's easy to install them side by side. The Final Boss sounds need different sounds.txt to enable, and there's two versions of it (not sure if the first -full- version needs to be linked because it sucks). So basicly if you try the mod and don't like it, you can switch back to plain MMS by just replacing the sounds.txt, no need to delete/replace the files in sounds-folder.
All Final Boss' sounds: http://www.mediafire.com/view/k3k1hw8cci5fg7i/
(Be warned, women have male voice too when they get shot! Not to mention the screams get annoying very fast.)

Fixed version: http://www.mediafire.com/view/uu4a84hzonarf58/
This has default MMS sounds when one gets shot, the rest of the Final Boss stuff is there.

UPDATED Big Boss' Heirloom Pack v2 by Jarold
**Credit to Big Boss for his work on the foundation of a great mod.**
**Credit to Jarold for continuing the great work started by the 'Boss.**

This mod gives heirlooms an updated look. I believe currently, weapons are the focus, since it's a significant number of reskins. The goal is to make heirloom upgraded gear feel more like an upgrade. Instead of just a statistical boost, the pack will give some gold lining and additional designs to your weapons - as if they have been handed down for each generation, and subsequently have eroded parts replaced with updated metals etc.

Somebody had posted one that's compatible with CRPG, however with the new patch it's outdated. I'm still waiting for the new text file. I'd do it myself if I knew what I was doing.

Now that the patch is out I am starting to appreciate just how much the more metal soundpack makes the game feel more visceral, since I'm using vanilla sounds currently.
Title: Re: More Metal Sounds compatibility
Post by: AreTreble on January 06, 2011, 06:00:29 am
I made the necessary adjustments so it is now compatible with the new patch.
Use this version of the sound pack: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,148627.0.html

Note: I only worked on compatibility for the SOUNDS portion of the immersion pack.

Follow these steps:
1) Backup default Sounds folder
2) Install the Sounds folder from the immersion pack
3) Copy and paste all the sounds from the default Sounds folder (the one you backed up) to the new Sounds folder.
4) Backup your Sounds.txt file in cRPG folder.
5) Download the following sound.txt file and put in cRPG folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?1mtj0nkdp3n191h  (current for patch 0.220)
6) Enjoy Immersion.

EDIT: There is a bug with the voice commands, I'm working on it now. Otherwise everything else works. Fixed.
Update: Added the end of round sound effect, and catapult_wretch, catapult_release
Update2: Added download links (below) for replacing the annoying woman screaming sound.

Awesome, thanks! Gonna try it right away.
Edit: Sorry, for some reason it doesn't work for me:
When i load the game, there is no sound at all and after i enter any battle, i get crashed almost right away.

Found the problem! There were few lines with spaces between them:
sounds.txt (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=22HBA9SA)

Fixed the spaces that caused crash. Use the sounds.txt from earlier post.

It would be nice. But I think for the author's sanity, we should wait until the patch stabilizes ?

Unless, of course, he's willing to keep editing the files. Then by all means, immersion!!

Thanks for mirroring the file, Meow! I just edited the sounds.txt, real credit goes to the creators of the more metal sound pack and abadgaem (made compatible with cRPG), and it's my hope they release an official update soon!

Regarding the woman_yell sounds, I wanted women to still make sounds when they attack so I replaced the sound files with something much more tolerable. If you'd liket o use them, send me a PM with your email and I can email the sounds to you.  :P

Please help me get rid of this horrible woman yell sounds... It's driving me insane and I can't find the file to delete it. :)

Don't delete it or the game will just scroll errors every time it tries to run the female screaming thing (and it happens a lot).

Here are the replacement files for the female yell sounds.
http://rapidshare.com/files/451285719/Sounds.zip

Bear in mind if after you've replaced the files, you still hear the screaming bitches, you probably replaced the wrong ones.

What I did was I replaced the sounds in both the Modules/cRPG folder, and the main folder.

edit; updated original post for link convenience.

Thanks dude, I knew there were replacement files somewhere. Interestingly, the woman_yell .oggs weren't in the Modules/cRPG/Sounds folder at all. I tried creating empty .oggs but didn't get to test before I DLed these. :)

I managed before to change the value to reduce the female grunt activation, but forgot to back it up after this patch (fail).

I think it was something on this line:

snd_woman_yell 2720 2 424 0 425 0

Would be lovely to fix it again, if any of you know which of the values it was, otherwise I might end up removing the whole line, since it annoys me to disturbing levels.

Cheers.

Check the original post. I have a file on mediafire which just replaces the screaming sounds with a silent soundfile, so you don't hear it. Not as elegant, but does the job.

Is there a reason that when I downloaded those my system didn't warn about overriding the excisting file? They work without any fiddling just by placing into the sounds folder?

More Metal Sounds pairs very well with Sounds of Suffer.

Sounds of Suffer page Link: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,157494.0.html
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApVcAu1FEaI
Download link: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/26848515/Mandie8.rar click on the .rar file.

To install it just copy and paste the sounds from the Mandie8.rar file into the cRPG/Sounds folder (should contain More Metal Sound files), this will overwrite ONLY the man sounds and grunting. You don't need to change anything on the sounds.txt  :D. Enjoy the ultra brutalness!

Patch 0.260 with MMS sounds.txt:

Spamming of male battle-cries.
The sound played at the end of the round is some fire/bonfire sound.
Possibly other errors.

I didn't save my previous sounds.txt backup for whatever reason so I can't compare that to the new sounds.txt.

Having some minor bugs too. Several voice commands differ and also few script errors. Works fine for the most parts though, still a million times better than original sounds.

Yeah, battle sounds are fine for the most part.  I'll go into more detail with what is wrong.

"Firebomb.wav" plays when your team loses a round.

The "man_yell_" sounds are spammed during combat.  Not sure about the "woman_yell_" sounds yet; haven't run into many female avatars.  Also, I've heard male characters yell "die!" and "coward!" -- which are completely new to me. I'm guessing they are "snd_man_warcry_" from native.  No idea why they're playing now though.

QQF results in one of the "vc_1_attack_" sounds playing.  There are probably other voice-command errors but that's the only one I can name right now.

I actualy like more yelling, reminds me of the earlier versions when every 5th prolonged chamber was a battlecry, pretty epic imo

copy all the files from the 'sound' folder in the zip and paste them into your warband/modules/crpg/sounds folder.

then place the updated sounds.txt into your cRPG directory.

you'll have to look thru this thread more to find the fix for screaming woman, it involves replacing 2 files somewhere.

Heh true, 95% of the commands are useless for me. I still quite enjoy yelling fall back and help when I'm running away. This is not really a big issue but sometimes it's a bit annoying as your teammates give warnings about incoming infantry and the sound tells you something about shieldwall.

These new taunts are pretty funny though. Reminded me of days in Age of Chivalry spamming those absolutely fantastic sound acting taunts. Decided to try how they sound in c-rpg, result was hilarious. They fit pretty well to me. Feel free to try, all sounds are courtesy of AoC mod for hl2. Just zip to your c-rpg folder/sounds.

I'm still using it even with that problem. Turns out I literally can't play without the more metal sounds, when the patch first installed and I was trying it without reinstalling my submods, I was thrown off by the native sounds. Contact and everything didn't really register for me, weird stuff. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to it, but I'd rather be used to the awesome sounds of more metal and hope for a voice commands fix. At least you can still see what was actually voice commanded so it's not too confusing or a big deal for now.
Title: Re: More Metal Sounds compatibility
Post by: CaveSquirrel on March 10, 2013, 12:01:43 pm
Well, if someone knows how to fix it, it should actually just take some changes in the Sounds.txt,  I would try to do it.

The ones that must be broken should be these which begin like that "snd_vchat_1_**********" or "snd_vchat_female_1***********" for females.

But I dont have a clue what those numbers mean behind them, for exemple:

snd_vchat_1_quickmenu_watch_aim 3408 1 817 0
snd_vchat_female_1_quickmenu_watch_aim 3408 1 915 0

I tried out the Final Boss' sound mod, there's some nice sounds there. :)

Here's two more versions of sounds.txt if someone wants to try that mod. Luckily it's easy to install since the sound files don't override anything, you can just swap old sounds.txt afterwards to get back to normal MMS sounds.

All Final Boss' sounds: http://www.mediafire.com/view/k3k1hw8cci5fg7i/ (http://www.mediafire.com/view/k3k1hw8cci5fg7i/)
(Be warned, women have male voice too when they get shot! Not to mention the screams get annoying very fast.)

Fixed version: http://www.mediafire.com/view/uu4a84hzonarf58/ (http://www.mediafire.com/view/uu4a84hzonarf58/)
This has default MMS sounds when one gets shot, the rest of the Final Boss stuff is there.

2) Download Final Boss sounds from here (http://joeflashedme.com/crpg/Finalboss_sounds.zip) and extract the files to that same folder (override existing files).

3) Copy one of the following sounds.txt to warband/modules/crpg folder. (snip snip from op):

Also if you can't get it work, I uploaded my own setup here --> www.mediafire.com/download/9eveob6vojz6dh4 (http://www.mediafire.com/download/9eveob6vojz6dh4)

It has both MMS and FinalBoss installed.
Downloaded. Extracted. Testing now...

Edit: works.

Yes replace the old with that and see if it works for you. If not, then you can try those other sounds.txt files if you prefer.

Ahh yes QQV I understand. I forgot to mention that I use that 'screaming woman fix' because those voices were really annoying.  :D

Those other two work for me on male chars, but females don't have those voices.

They do have those voices in the standard mod...

Had to hit repair and check just out of curiosity. Women have male voices on those commands in standard mod.  :D

Could you try to tell me what to do in other words? Because apparently I'm to retarded of a shit to do it right this way :D
Title: Re: More Metal Sounds compatibility
Post by: korppis on June 26, 2014, 08:37:36 pm
And apparently I suck at explaining. :D

Ok let's try this way:

1) Open your warband/modules/crpg directory
2) Download and open the full zip package I uploaded
3) In the zip file, drag the Sounds folder and sounds.txt into the crpg module folder you just opened (it should ask to override, so let it do it).

That should be it.

The horse sounds are annoying now :(

You could just copy the vanilla hooves & horse sounds over the modded ones. Shouldn't need to touch sounds.txt for that.

Can you upload a new sound.txt with the new voices + sounds of weapons/horses of MMS?

The old file should still work fine and AFAIK all new male voices work with it. You just have to copy it in the mod folder again since the patch overwrote it.

Or do you mean you'd want the monty python female voices added?

When i press the keys to say:

All the voices except the ones previously missing from the game(e.g. the male "Sorry" or male "Watch your aim") are back to the old ones with this submod.

I still haven't noticed anything that needs fixing. I've tried all 3 different versions that are linked in op and they work the same.

You did copy one of those sounds.txt files after the patch and did nothing else, right?

You only need to install the MMS sounds once in the sounds folder. But when crpg gets patched, it sometimes overwrites the sounds.txt and you may have to copy that file over again (like this last patch).

Just keep an extra copy of that modified sounds.txt (as well as the original one after each patch), and when there is a patch you can check the date stamp to see if it was changed and replace it easily with the old, working version.

Anyone know if it's possible to fix this? A quick look into the sounds.txt file and I couldn't make heads or tails of it to see about fixing it myself.

Yes it's possible. I left the old ones because personally I like them more. I can make another version when I get home... any other voices you want changed besides those two?
Title: Re: More Metal Sounds compatibility
Post by: Dooz on August 04, 2014, 05:42:50 pm
You're too kind. I have no idea what exactly is missing, wouldn't have even known about those two had they not been mentioned, as I always reinstall MM after a patch. Thanks if you get around to doing this though, kissy kisses.

Ok I changed QQV and QQF to new use those new voices. Also added all female voice commands that didn't have sound by default (kept the original 'Hello' and others).

Link here: www.mediafire.com/download/ukrv7dqr7t66dc0 (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ukrv7dqr7t66dc0)

Also cleaned about 100 unused/invalid sounds from the file, hopefully it didn't break anything.

Edit: Disabled snd_ballista_crank because that damn thing was permanently on even when nobody was using the ballista... really annoying. :D

Woohoo, thanks bud! QQV and QQF are working, as well as lady voice commands I hadn't heard before and didn't realize were missing. Don't know if anything happens to be broken, just a couple minutes into trying it out now, but I'll check back in if I notice anything.

here's a coupon for e-hugz-4-u
