In other news, I'd hate to be the one to have to tell einstein about this.
WW3, over the internet
Well, they started the whole thing. The Brits invented the microchip, does that give them right to do as they please with all computers?
While I certainly love the way, how all the big sites (wiki, google, wordpress and so on) gather attention and anonymous does their part, I think what the author of xkcd said about it last year is still true:Such acts are symbolical, hurting the pride of the hacked organization, showing the limits of their security while sending a message to the World at large.

Internet is not owned by anyone, it's funny how USA seems to believe that they should own it now.
A lot of stuff is based in the US, though and will be affected by these laws.
Megaupload: Time to move to Sweden so you can make witty replies to legal messages like TPB.the pirate bay is my fav <3

They are awesome.

So they'll be forced to move? Awesome, way to go US, driving away some of your most innovative and productive corporations to the rest of the world. It's very generous of you. Even if they don't move, assuming the law passes, it's only a matter of time before others fill the vaccuum. It's even more of an incentive for others to not follow in their footsteps.i bet other countries are not stupid as US
the pirate bay is my fav <3Shame they've managed to force internet providers in Finland to block it. Not that it's hard to circumvent.
Nah only one, and then you couls use other sites :)

Nah only one, and then you couls use other sites :)Yah, but once it become legal to do it to one provider, then it's only a matter of time before it's closed down for all providers. All the internet providers are doing the same thing. The rest of the cases are in court.

Why was MegaUpload really shut down? (https://plus.google.com/u/0/111314089359991626869/posts/HQJxDRiwAWq)
"In 2001, Schmitz purchased $375,000 worth of shares of the nearly bankrupt company LetsBuyIt.com and subsequently announced his intention to invest 50 million in the company.[20] Unknown to others, Schmitz did not have the funds available to invest, although the announcement caused the share value of LetsBuyIt.com to jump by nearly 300%.[21] Schmitz quickly sold the shares and profited $1.5 million as a result."
lmao
Looks like the real world isn't enough for the U.S government, they have to "neo-crusade" in the internet as well.
Fools. At least this didn't cost them trillions of dollars..
From a debt like theirs, I'd play internet police force anytime, bunch of cowards.(click to show/hide)
As predicted, the shutdown did nothing to reduce online piracy:

Believe me, at least of the people I know, we are well aware of how fucked up our government is. The big issue is how the hell to fix it. With 2 parties in power that are essentially controlled by the media, we are given some really shitty choices on who to vote for. Of course, there are always the candidates from other parties, but the issue there is the sheer number of people who either don't give them any credit for being able to win, or who simply follow what the media tells them and don't bother to question it.
I find it rather interesting that our media constantly rages for and against things like abortion and gay rights, while the government passes increasingly strict laws allowing them to have further control. Thankfully the SOPA and PIPA bills were caught and exposed by, what else, the internet before being passed.
It is illegal for us to film, or record in essentially any way, police officers on duty without their direct consent. In fact, the penalty for doing so is the same as rape. This is something that, imo, should be front page news and have people protesting in the streets, and yet other than a few pockets of the internet, it's totally silent. No media coverage. :|
I haven't checked, but I assume this pic is currently being posted all over the internet:

Makes me sad that you guys care so much. I mean, I love you all for caring, but, why? THIS photo should tell you all you need to know about the society that capitalism is aiming for

Isn't it like that in Britain already? I mean the 24/7 Cameras EVERYWHERE.
Not just in places like shops, or other places, but basically everywhere you go.
That's what I heard.
At least in London this is true, but I don't know about the rest of the country.
Went there last Summer for a study abroad thing, cameras are everywhere. It seems it has helped them catch more criminals, but hasn't done anything to drop the crime-rate.
I popped a zit yesterday.
...why do I still get zits?
