@US People who are offended: It's meant for your government that thinks it's right to stick it's nose into everything, like it's their damn right to "rule" over third world countries, and flex with weapons there, and take down websites just 'cause. And not for insulting you.
Believe me, at least of the people I know, we are well aware of how fucked up our government is. The big issue is how the hell to fix it. With 2 parties in power that are essentially controlled by the media, we are given some really shitty choices on who to vote for. Of course, there are always the candidates from other parties, but the issue there is the sheer number of people who either don't give them any credit for being able to win, or who simply follow what the media tells them and don't bother to question it.
I find it rather interesting that our media constantly rages for and against things like abortion and gay rights, while the government passes increasingly strict laws allowing them to have further control. Thankfully the SOPA and PIPA bills were caught and exposed by, what else, the internet before being passed.
It is illegal for us to film, or record in essentially any way, police officers on duty without their direct consent. In fact, the penalty for doing so is the same as rape. This is something that, imo, should be front page news and have people protesting in the streets, and yet other than a few pockets of the internet, it's totally silent. No media coverage.
