Does it work with the Steam version?Yes. It'll install/update, and then launch the steam version of the game
Yes. It'll install/update, and then launch the steam version of the gameI launched it through the launcher. Started through steam for me. When you installed it first time; where did you choose to put your files?
I launched it through the launcher. Started through steam for me. When you installed it first time; where did you choose to put your files? My .exe file? I have that in my steam folder/crpg or whatever. I used the .exe before I put it in there, and it was perfectly fine though.

Yeah, I did the same. Was just checking if I did it right :DI don't think it really matters, in truth, but better safe than sorry.

Do not like. Will not use if I can avoid it. Some of these mods are kind of a pain (metal sounds being one of them).
Ideally, the updater should not verify all files unless I tell it to. By default it should update only files with new changes to them. (Or by default it can "verify all" but make an advanced option to disable this behavior.) Basically supply it with a list of changed files and it will only verify those.
Also, how does this program choose its installation path? I've got two copies of m&b (steam and no steam) installed, will it install itself to both?
Good point. Will add a local list of checksums, so that files will be downloaded only if the patch changed them.xD
By default it will use the non-Steam path first. However, if you put it in the Warband main directory or in the cRPG mod directory of a particular installation, it will use that one.
To the guys having crashes, did it ever occur to you that posting the error message/log may be a good idea?

P.S. I tried saving it to my files and then running it under the Repair option and it seems to be working. But I still keep getting that error:
"You are running an unsupported version of Warband.
The Warband Script Enhancer only supports version 1.143."
i got that error as well kesh. I put the launcher exe in the mod folder and shortcut that launcher to the desktop and it worked for me. I tried again a little while ago and got the same error that earth got about out of space or something.
I also only can get to this :

Fail how?
What error message?
Launcher downloads fine all the way to the end then says ERROR cannot find warband.exe etc
then i look and its trying to install itself to a folder C:\programfiles etc etc \mountandbladewarband
any idea/reason thats its making its own folder in the program files instead of installing itself to the steam apps?
I cannot use the launcher. I am on a mac using crossover (dont say get a pc, i know you want to), and the launcher does not work Is there any folder it has to be in or something particular?

About damn time! How far will your efforts towards finding turks outside of turkey go?Ban all of Germany. That should take the rest of them xD
Thank you, it did the trick (at least now it runs). Now it crashes at this point. Any ideas?
Try installing http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=1578

hmmm, still have the problem, it says cRPGLauncher stop working
Sounds in-game sluttering very badly since started using the launcher. Quite a few other people have the same problem - makes the game almost unplayable (SO ANNOYING!).
I get far into the download and then it says no mirrors left. Can someone help me please.
Made some changes that could fix the "cRPG Launcher stopped working" error. Redownload from here (http://c-rpg.net/cRPGLauncher.exe), the version on the title bar should be 0.3 (or higher).
The launcher has nothing to do with in-game problems. It could be WSE, so start the game directly from mb_warband.exe and tell me if it still stutters.
Check "Show Log" and paste the log here.
Seems to work fine after launching the game in a classical way...

Does it stutter with all sounds (button click, music...) or just battle sounds (voices, weapon sounds, ...)?Battle sounds, mostly noticeable with players shouting when being hit/holding an attack etc, also cav seem to be completly silent sometimes, or you hear them a second before they are a few steps away.

If your antivirus says that's a virus, it's a piece of shit and you should change it.
Try MSE (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials), it's a good, lightweight, free antivirus.
This wasn't very nice, I hope your not a dev I am simply trying to play the game. Here is the million dollar question that you devs are answering. What is in this version of Crpg that makes some anti-viruses act up, that was not in the other version.
The launcher is giving me a popup that says:Code: [Select]Failed to create remote load library thread.
Windows API error

The game does launch but then I get an absurd number of errors that say: "To play cRPG you must be running Warband Script Extender (WSE)"
Of course, I'm not allowed to connect to the servers because apparently the launcher is failing to run WSE. I've tried manually running WSE, but I get the same problem.
My cRPG installation is on a mostly empty hard drive and I have 12 GB RAM. There is definitely not a storage issue. Possible that this is a 64-bit Windows 7 problem?

You can restore non-cRPG servers on the list by going to cRPG\module.ini and setting hide_other_mod_servers to 0.
Could be related to the game starting with administrator privileges and TS not having them. I'll see if there is something I can do to fix it, in the meantime you could try running TS as administrator.
I'm having a problem. Whenever I try to install the crpg, the launcher just pauses partway through. It will stop randomly, and I can't get it to continue. I suppose the issue I'm having is related to the new launcher (or the new patch), because my game never crashed so often before, when alt-tabbing. I've had 3 CTD's so far this evening.

Get the newest launcher (0.4c).
and where is it??
Works now after update and repair with disabled firewall and antivirus
I'm getting this error, Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application. Also I had to copy some files manually and manually launch WSE loader after the last patch. The launcher would not work for me at all. Now I'm just getting the above error.
$ winetricks dotnet20sp2
My launcher installs it on C/program files/steam/steamapps/common/mountblade warband while the game is under D/program files/steam/steamapps/common/mountblade warband. I don't know how to change it. Please help me.
Just add it to steam (the launcher) then when it finishes and brings up the warband automatically, use that.
That is exactly what I do.(click to show/hide)
So, what exactly are the errors you are getting?
Sagar, had the same problem, i just disabled KiS, added the launcher to exceptions and enabled KiS again...
I just try that but doesn't work for me. :?
My update has been stuck at scripts.txt for about 20 minutes now. I downloaded the new version of the launcher. When I asked it to update CRPG, it asked me for a file path. The default place it was asking me to look was in the documents folder, but I was told by someone on TS to set it to my main directory. Getting stuck on scripts.txt was the same problem I was having before I went from .2 of the launcher to .5. Any help would be appreciated.same problem for me as well
My brother Gill STILL has trubble to fix this. It's downloaded, and I press "Play". It installs the latest updates and a window appears which says that "Preparing to launch Warband", as it always do. Then a new windom appears, which says
"Failed to inject library into remote process. Check wse_crash_log.txt for more information".
This is the problem. Do you know how to solve it?
This is my solution for Kaspersky - Antivirus and it works, for now. This doesn't seen to be working. I can play by launching M&B in native, selecting the CRPG server, then allowing it to switch to the CRPG mod. I still get the message about WSE not working but I can play, for some reason. I still can't update and I get some errors when CRPG is loading, but nothing that disables me from playing the game. Hopefully is stays this way.
1. Uninstall Kaspersky - all total uninstall
2. Delete cRPG launcher from comp
3. Install Kaspersky
4. Go to settings - uncheck "Select action automatically" - save settings
5. Update
6. Restart
7. Download cRPG launcher
8. Kaspersky say it is virus or malware and ask for action - click - do nothing
9. Then open Kaspersky to see a "virus" (click it at main menu when open kaspersky) it will ask for action - add launcher to exclusions
For now working without problems
If Kaspersky detect launcher again just do actions 8 and 9 from list above (I'm using Kaspersky - Antivirus 2012)
Hey everybody,
It's been a long time since I tried to play, between work and Skyrim, I just tried to log on today and found there is now a launcher. That's cool, download that, install shit, try to join crpg NA 1, and I get "Error, cannot join server".
Then I think "Maybe I need to log in to the website since it's been so long." Deleted my cookies, and try to log in, and it's giving me wrong password.
The problem I'm facing now is to find out your password, you need to log into the game, which I can't do either. Can anyone provide me direction for a next step?
Thanks in advance for your help.

check the log and past it here maybe?
but i think those problems were related to not sufficient authority, try running it as admin
Also, i am getting: Failed to connect to the server almost everytime i run the launcher, i can play well and all, but this message appears all the freaking time. Then a popup shows asking whether i want to try updating again, or storno :)
I'm getting "failed to create remote library threat" error. Everything is fine till the last update. I have searched the forum about it, common issue, no answer.
How do i fix it ? any ideas ?
Was getting some script errors playing .261 so decided to do a fresh install of CRPG and deleted the module folder.
Now launcher gets stuck every time when trying to download the files, it'll get about 1/3 or 1/2 thru the files before getting stuck and stalling at one of the larger map files.
I've tried redownloading launcher, HD has plenty of space, etc.
Very annoying and gamebreaking

Install this (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21).
The launcher is stupid in the way that if it downloads a file and fails, that file gets lost. If it stored every succesfully downloaded file first you might well have the downloader succesfully get the whole mod after a few dozne tries :D
A-fucking-men
Right, I made a crude C# downloader that uses a different method than the official one (thanks to cmp for clarifying it wasn't what I thought it was :D) I can't test wether that fixes the getting stuck problem or not since I can't reproduce it, but maybe some of you can!
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
- No guarantees on it working. I managed to download a working cRPG installation on one go at about the same speed as the official one manages to do it.
- Requires .NET framework 4.0 or newer. The official one is fine with older version, but I use a filesaving method that was only recently implemented. You can get it from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851
- Program needs to be in your Warband /Modules/ directory. It doesn't look for correct place to download to - it just creates a cRPG folder wherever it happens to be and downloads the crap to there.
- If you don't get an error before the "FINISHED"-text it probably downloaded stuff correctly. Next step is to run the official cRPG launcher in repair mode and see if it actually downloaded things correctly (and if it did, that will launch WSE)
- Unlike the official program, this one downloads directly to the mod folder and does not delete the files on a failure (or if you close the program). This means that if you got stuck to random files before and still do with this one, you might be able to get the whole installation by just trying multiple times. This, however, is not the goal of the program, but if it let's you get the game, you're welcome. Do report it though.
- Please report if this fixes the getting stuck problem so I'll (and more importantly: the devs will) know if this is a solution. If it gets stuck, please report the last line or two of text you got so I might be able to look into it.
Get it from: http://nikita.tnnet.fi/~elmokki/crpg/cRPG-unofficial.exe
Give it a few seconds at start - it'll download the file list for updates without announcing doing that and it might take a moment. If it doesn't start spamming filenames and what's happening to them in a minute, something's wrong right away :D
If this doesn't work, I'll code a Java version and we'll see if it's C# related. If that doesn't work, well, it's probably your internets hating the program.
I get a "RGL warning" when I try to play cRPG from the launcher. I've done a repair but this hasn't helped.
The warning reads "Steam could not be initialized properly. Steam must be running to play this game"
It pops up behind the menu where you select the mod you want to play etc
Any help?
A retardedly unpermissive firewall could be blocking the access to the cRPG servers (or more like it blocking cRPG launcher completely) I suppose? Essentially using the launcher is - as far as I noticed when implementing the unofficial test one - the same as using a different web browser. The files are transmitted via http protocol so the only real possible issues causing that kind of error messages are something (firewall, Windows, whatever) forbidding the launcher to do what it wants to.
If you can't get anything else to work, try http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,21131.msg364171.html#msg364171, though I doubt it'll work either judging from the errors you're getting. It does essentially the same thing as the official launcher, just with a different method.

Elmokki,
Any plans to release a new "unofficial launcher" for the .271 update? Or is there a place I can just download all the files directly? The unofficial seemed to work for me for .270, but the official launcher has never worked for me.
Thanks for the help,
Ben E Gas
It should work just fine regardless of cRPG version unless the devs change how the downloading works (which has not happened as far as I know). I should've probably added some text telling "YOU ARE DOWNLOADING VERSION BLABLA", but fact is the only version it can download is the newest one available because it just gets them from the exact same place as the official launcher, so there's no real need for such.
If for some reason the launcher does not work, I'll look into it, but I'm pretty sure it works just fine :)
Elmokki, I ran your unofficial launcher again and it goes through the whole thing but only creates a .270 file. Let us know if you plan to update the unofficial launcher. I hope you do. It is odd that I can get onto the servers still running .270, but there are glitches. None of my armor is correct, for one.
Elmokki,
Does your launcher update to .273?
When I use the cRPG launcher now, it no longer launches into the steam version fully - it loads from the steam directory, but it no longer allows me to use the steam overlay to browse/chat - any solutions?
I see.. so once they stop doing all their updates for their shitty DLC, we'll get a working overlay?

I ran the unofficial launcher and it started working. But It stopped after awhile, see image.

Some other program is reading version.txt. If you don't know what program, boot your computer. It could also be that I just plain forgot to close the file when I originally read it in my program, but not sure. I lost the source code anyway recently due to forgetting I even had it.
If I remember correctly though, if you get an error message at version.txt your game is updated properly.
When i start crpg from launcher teamspeak was not working. I must start game by official warband.exe icon. Anybody was have that problem?
Yes, solved by running TS as an administrator (right click).
Mabye i'm stupid but I don't get it :| I don't have cRPG launcher in steam games, it always picked up itself...
I did it but I have another problem then.
"Could not find mb_warband.exe or mb_warband_dedicated.exe"
The cRPG launcher is placed in steam>common>M&b folder, and still...
I'll try thanks for your patience and concern ;)
Great, now I'm fucked up. I can't even play cRPG, dreaming about beeing connected with steam while playing cRPG is over, now I need help, I can't even play :|

But when my friend run it it shows him this message: Could not initialize aplication (0xc0000135). Click OK to finish te aplication.
And it doesnt do anything more.
Please help.
Elmokki,
I am having a problem with the latest cRPG patch. It seemed to patch up to 1281 but when in game I cannot see a "ready to spawn" box that is needed to spawn in game. Do you think that is related to the unofficial installer? I get a lot of script editor error messages when I first log into a server also, any idea why? Could that be related to WSE?
Edit*
I just realized there is a new cRPG version 1284. I try to use the unofficial launcher and it gets to a certain point and it says version.txt is being used by another process, and I can't update past that part. How do I find out what file is using the version.txt?
*Edit Again*
I'm back in business. I just deleted the version.txt file and ran the unofficial installer. It created a new version.txt file and finished the upgrade.(click to show/hide)
Move launcher to the directory where you have the warband .exe.
If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the game.
