Prevent unrealistic blocks
« on: June 30, 2011, 09:17:02 am »

Both strenght and weapon type should be effective on blocking.

Blocking a flamberge with a wooden practice sword is funny. Or your weapon should break a few blocks later.

Blocking an oppenent -who has 18STR 6PS- with 3STR 0PS is also unacceptable. What you hold should fly away from your hand to ground. The difference between the attacker's STR PS and the blocker's STR PS should increase or decrease the percentage of dropping your weapon.

No. This would kill agi builds, a fuckload of wooden hilt/handle weapon, peasants, ...
We have a lot of STR builds running around anyway, this would give even more reasons to pick a STR build.

Interesting OP.  I was unaware we had a lack of complete and utter STR build dominance over balanced and AGI builds currently.

owait, icwutudidthar.
And I should be nice or polite to anyone.... why exactly?

As said before by Vibe and Gorath :
-We don't need this. It would favour even more str builds.

And i'll add : It's always fun to see a peasant blocking a flamberge user for 1 minute, with his club. Agi builds can deal with peasants by spamming/feinting.

I don't get it.
Someone is having a problem not being able to kill peasants because they manual block with their tree branch? If you can't kill a peasant while wearing plate and waving a flamberg you should die instead.

I actually think its funny to play a peasant and only block with a stick, watching the full plate flamburger get madder and madder as they can't do anything about it. Yet a wooden practice shield explodes into splinters after 2 hits max. Its one of those cases where game balance > realism.
Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.

Well in all fairness if you block something irl you dont just stop it dead on the spot like you do in game. You direct the hit to miss. Making that animation would be a pain in the arse thought so that's why we have the current system.
Why is everybody telling me to think? I think, I just don't show it.

Sultan Eren, with that you will get way more archers with lots of athletics and powerdraw or accuracy, running away and shooting you when you want to follow. Because they couldn't block anymore with what you want.

After that you will open a new thread, whining about every archer out there and wanting to reduce arrowspeed, arrowdamage, bowdamage, accuracy and blablablablabla......

My goodness, I would like that suggestion corner thing to be closed.....Most people here write before thinking......

No, otherwise my 12PS character will dominate everything he hits with the claymore, or god help you a heavier weapon.

Consider that if this was implemented, you could easily, if you were to so choose, make a 14PS character and that it would be viable if it could crush through every single block.

EDIT:

I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.
