serious why the hell not? if its an alt it cannot trade anyway. there is zero reason why not, unless strategus adds some unforeseeable circumstance.

You think open plains is bad with lots of cav now?

I'm sure it won't be any worse when everyone has a insta-30 cav alt.

Or town maps, probably be less archers there as well.

Problem with this system is everyone has every class and can just choose it at will. Sure you can argue that it's possible now as well, but at least people have to put in abit of work for it.

Maybe allow skip the fun for a single character, or have skip the fun make all of your alts unable to play until you've deleted the skip the fun character.

That way it can be a single experimentation character AND you can still have a main.

I second what worm said. People will check what map it is, and join with the according alt. Would destroy the variety.

I'll say no, just because i actually want thoses alts to be usefull later. Leveling an alt is longer than leveling a main whose higher generation, yet you can't even trade.

For me, alts are like my main's family, so i want them to be able to "evolve" just like the main one. Skip the fun, as is intended, is for new players mainly, and then for casual ones. If you allow this, what will prevent people from creating 10 more alts all lv30 and different build ? It will definitely ruin the game.

As has been said everyone would have an alt for every occasion, this happens now to an extent but at least people put in the grind to get there.
Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.

We probably have to rethink the STF thing altogether. Especially the fact that people are buying extra serials to use STF, which is definately not intended. (No one should have an advantage/extra feature by having 2 keys, even if it's only a small advantage/extra feature)

We might allow one STF alt with some cooldown system (you can only use it once per week or something).

Limiting to one alt and putting a cooldown could work.

That would be awesome. It could also serve as a "Try your intended build before levelling up", which is something nice.

I don't see why grind should be a prerequisite to playing the game, especially for an alt.

I am one of those people with multiple CD keys. I use them for testing builds, doing fun gimmick things with friends, funny character roleplaying you rarely see anymore, and so on. Everyone should be able to. These aren't characters going to be used in strategus.
tbh I think everyone should be able to have at least one designated STF character. Of all the people I know using multiple cd keys, this "change character for the map" concept is not used and is just stupid. Anyone, regardless of STF or not, can switch character for a particular map but I've never met anyone who does.
Also, I have declared myself #1 NA hybrid thrower
Formerly known as Marathon.
As an NA admin, I am the most laid back and concerned with the ~fun of the game~ above all other factors. I've also been super inactive since Summer 2012. University takes most of my time, but I still find some time to play when i can.

I have extra cd-key, and i don't use it for skip the fun (tbf i don't use it at all now). I play just my main (and i have one alt at lvl1 gen 1). I'm ok with skip the fun alts, with cooldown or not.

I like this.

I don't think people swapping characters depending on the map would be any more of an issue than it is now, which is to say, not at all. The only difference would be the grind, and I don't see people who have already leveled up a bunch of alts switching characters between maps. Perhaps I misunderstand the multiplier concept, but wouldn't switching up characters interrupt your multiplier?

Perhaps I misunderstand the multiplier concept, but wouldn't switching up characters interrupt your multiplier?

This is why you would switch after you have lost your multiplier due to playing at a disadvantage. Cavalry in crowded city streets or a very mountainous map, 2hander on random plains and archer on a map with lots of things blocking LoS are what I would call playing the wrong role for the current map. You leave and rejoin on an alt within 10 seconds of losing, go in with the next wave and have a much easier time.
Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.
