Defend the Village gives barely any xp?

I understand we don't want it to reward people too much, but I tried playing it and the bots were surprisingly tough(for an unorganized team to beat) and it seemed like there was very little gain for even playing for an hour or more ('m talking like 1000 xp?, it was very small)

Anyone else have thoughts on this?
