Belgium says loot boxes are gambling, wants them banned in Europe

Finally someone took a bite. Wonder where this will lead us.

yo restriction on any gaming is more than overdue.
Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!

The whole money for crates thing does strike me as a poor direction for the gaming industry to head in.

Gaming lootboxes in particular involve children, their parents and inability of said parents to say no to their children. Which is why lootboxes will be regulated.

Makers of these games are more than aware they are operating in grey area and will exploit that as much they can. They won't cry injustice when laws regulate these kind of games, they know very well what they are doing is wrong.

Besides, every country in the world regulates various things. It's degree of regulation what matters. Communism was a tad bit heavy on regulation (well iron boot heavy to be precise). But we can't have anarchy either where everybody is free to do everything they want. Maybe on this forum, but not in the real world.

Edit: Stock market is well regulated btw, and people get in prison regularly for pulling off shenanigans on the market. Gaming lootboxes are a novelty and aren't regulated atm.

Edit2: State of Hawaii agrees with Belgium. We'll see how that affects rest of USA.

Actually ye thought about it again, and it is sure that gaming companies like steam will do anything in order to usurp child indulgence and bad parents's incompetentness of having whatever their child wants. That's what they will attack, and only goverments can stop it ,there will be always bad parents to indulge little kids like bjord

well my friend ur right but why other ppl, i mean ppl who don't have kids and they are mature about their choices in topics like 'gambling' or high risk behaviors should be involved because other mongoloid who cant raise own kids  -mommy, mommy plox gieb shekels because im little spoiled brat and i need to buy internet pixels :D

Communism was a tad bit heavy on regulation .....

u see that's what im talking about, let's regulate everything we can't: solved in civilised way, is too hard to understand or it's very juicy and extremely profitable sector to wipe from cash = pure communist way of thinking ^^

This isn't to ban gambling, this is to regulate it, you know just like normal gambling is regulated.
