Could anyone shortly summarize the history of cRPG? I'm relatively a newmy old friend here (played a bit in 2013/2014, got addicted in 2015), so I don't know all of this Tydesu drama.

Mostly AGI vs STR changes, melee buffs, archery and cavalry nerfs. This heavily nerfed Strength based builds, and made a new whole kind of builds appear, centred around WPFs for spamming. All in all, wasn't good for the game, and population started to get lower and lower.

I don't actually remember when I started playing but I remember STR builds becoming a lot harder to play so maybe I was around for it :o

My okam forum mysteriously hasn't worked (can't post) since the day I threatened to set fire to zimkes beard if he didn't add lederhosen and he sent me a fail warning. If devs can't handle a simple joke these days then fuck knows how they are dealing with all this negative press and feedback.

I think okam will get more diverse in the future(soontm), both in terms of items and character customisation. I know how much all of you love diversity because you are all right.

Meanwhile, I am playing the shitty rip-off Mercenaries mod where archers and str rule the world, and 18-18 is the norm.

I hate it, but I need to fuel my addiction somehow ;-;

I have tried OKAM for a bit, and seen some vids, but I can't really get to like it. Maybe that will change in the future.
Your binary primitive low capacity of thinking is not relevant.

What is your take on combat?

Needs fixing for hit-detection and client-server-sync but it's doable imo and devs are aware. But that will take time so for now it's sit back and wait/do something else. Once it is on a stable foundation it will be the best on the market.

OKAM looks great, but the game has been pretty dead lately on NA (22 on 08:35PM CST while I sit here eating my jello fruit cup).   The initial few weeks it was pretty epic with 140 players on a server (eye candy) and not too much lag.  The combat in OKAM is fun when your playing with a lot of people, but duels seem to linger on especially when two players are experienced which usually ends when someone else steps in.

Right now the problem with OKAM is there isn't much substance behind the eye candy.   I don't think just adding more content (like weapons/armor) is going to get people playing more nor adding the EPIC mode (strategus).  I think they need to get the leveling system/ money? / store? / stat system / possible / customization/ possible looms going because the temporary stat system/unlock tree just seems like a step back from what CRPG had to offer.

Shame since I think they could have just copied CRPG with the banners/ marketplace / store / looms/ stats leveling and at least probably have players playing right now, but it seems like their attempt to make the game more accessible to average players is making the game less enjoyable to long hardcore players which are the ones that are logging in each night.

I still check the CRPG servers each night, then OKAM servers, and then find myself back to TDM native having fun in there just because it is populated.

Star Wars: Battlefront, EA made triple A game set in motherfucking Star Wars universe currently peaks around 5000 players on PC. Not even full year has passed since release.

cRPG was truly something special, I think we had fairly active 3000 people player base two years after mod was initially released as alfabeta. Mod for a niche game sustaining high player counts. Must be that it was doing something well?

We're not going to see anything like C-RPG again, it was that one of a kind thing that was incredibly special, it makes me sad that it's dead and we won't really see anything as good and as popular as it used to be, but that's life. OKAM probably won't be as good as C-RPG ever was, that's something that I think is true, but I do think that OKAM could easily evolve into something brilliant, it just needs time to come out of its cocoon.

We're not going to see anything like C-RPG again
Unless someone takes up the task of porting cRPG into Bonerlord. Imagine that, good old cRPG but with modern graphics, lots of new items, and maybe some new features.

I agree Gurgumul, the only things that made cRPG better than Native was that you were not locked into 1 nations gear sets (being limited to the gear from the side you picked) and being able to fiddle with your stats to fine tune a classes build. I dont think it would be that hard to replicate in Bannerlord and I hope someone does.
