An update on things

First of all, we had a lovely BBQ yesterday, pics here if you're interested:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pttglmtel2oto7h/AAC4YoCFO6GHC0_ajdsWckc-a?dl=0

So, we are getting ready and nervous regarding our upcoming early access. We had to make a judgement call regarding what to start with, either full combat, or half combat half epic.

We decided to go with pure combat for now, especially after watching other games early access and what we liked and didn't like about their release.

One of our goals is to have everything in our first release highly polished, and all the epic stuff we have is a lot of Work in Progress and would have the possibility to create many unforeseen bugs. This is why early access will feature no persistent world stuff - or, in other words, it's the spiritual sequel of cRPG (the Battlegrounds) - there will be skills and there will be progression and round-based gamemodes.

We will also release a version with bots for our backers in the next week, so you can play around a bit more with the earlier version. We may or may not update your version in the next weeks with more features - the reality is that hosting gameevents takes a lot of time, and it is better for us not to do it every week so we can develop more per week.

However, we plan to have another gametest soon - either end of this month or beginning of next month. I will let you know more details about that soon, and also who can participate in it (not yet decided)

I will let you know more about what the "Battlegrounds" part includes in some time (short version: more or less everything except horses for now, they need more love)

The epic part will be released as soon as possible after early access.

Early Access When? somewhen between next week and Gamescom ;)

Maybe if Coronoa virus gets rid of 50 percent or more of the world population we can do without a pope and religion.

Good to hear.

We will also release a version with bots for our backers in the next week

Hopefully no typo... you mean week right? As in singular... :D

Will this version be any different from the one we tested before?

I assume you are referring to the epic part - if so, don't be. There are some great things going to happen with it. I can't promise that they will work out, but what I can promise is that no game ever did anything like this before. Be excited. Because I am.

I hope that's a promise and not a "possible scenario"

So many people will get wet from these words. But hardly Vovka :)
And the reason is timing... How much time do you plan to spend on battle part and when and how much time with Epic?

Just because we are focusing on battles for now does not mean that nothing was done with epic . It's just that we are pushing the battle parts to the point where they are finished and polished, which we can't do with the epic part just yet. If I could I would work day and night on epic, but I lost some of my naivity and learned that sometimes you have to do things that are not as fun, like polishing things, if you don't want be steams laughing stock at release

The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.

Yeah, I agree. First things first: polish the shit out of the combat to get attention and then proceed with the next level. Otherwise people will say "yet another of those half-assed medieval surival games".
