Anyone tried it? What's the adjustment period like? Do you enjoy food more? Have you lost/gained weight?

Hate it. It's awful. You feel awful. Sugar is happiness. Eating fruits to manage through the day. Not many, just enough not to feel miserable.

You will be losing weight, unless you start eating fatty foods in bigger quantities. Could start to taste disgusting if you're eating bacon and other forms of animal fat without taking any carbohydrates with it.

It is a fad, just like popular diets from the past. Don't fall for Paleo diet cult. It's not balanced, healthy diet. Just another popular crap like eating raw foods, chrono diet etc.

Keto is very good only if you are working out, otherwise I do not suggest it.

When I do keto diets, I go 6 days no carbs at all (only post workout) and 1 day full carb overload, I eat 500+ grams or more carbs (Oats),

If you do keto, do yourself a favour, eat plenty of protein, olive oil and omega 3 oil aswell.

And always keep in mind that keto diets should run no more than 3 months, otherwise you end up fucking your metabolism.

Can we come to an agreement? Working out is something many people do, includes various activities of different intensity. Please refer to your workout regime as wannabe bodybuilder regime. Because it is important when talking about health. Bodybuilder diets are very unhealthy. Which is why many of them die before they reach old age.

I know two friends trying the keto diet at the moment... not really sure why since they aren't really overweight (even by Murican standards) and they managed to trim off some fat really quickly in the first month or so. After that, they've barely lost anything though.

And always keep in mind that keto diets should run no more than 3 months, otherwise you end up fucking your metabolism.

You have an article or something that I could link to my friends about that?

All you need to lose weight is have a calorie- deficit, to gain weight have a surplus, and to stay the same maintenance.

All that kind of different fancy diets work too of course, but why feel miserable when I can lose exact the same amount of weight in the exact timeframe without feeling miserable?

It's pretty simple. You want to lose weight (fat) but maintain muscle mass? Go for 2-2,5g protein per kg/bodyweight, 0,5-0,8g fat/kg bodyweight and fill up the rest with all the carbs you like.

You want to gain muscle mass? Go for at least 1,5-1,8g protein/kg of bodyweight, 0,5-0,8g fat/kg bodyweight and fill up the rest with carbs. Everything else is just playing around.

Tell them to read a book called "Burn the fat feed the muscle" by Tom Venuto, it has a chapter saying the pros of Ketogenic diets, and a chapter for the cons.


I always use keto diets, not because i dont lose weight otherwise, but it is time saving and it allowes me to even more red meat and full eggs guilt free  :mrgreen:


The thing with keto is that after you stop it, you will gain body fat, because your body gets out of the ketogenic state, then you need to maintain your weight for an X amount of time, and then start bulking.

Okay, I guess I should explain my situation.
Only exercise I do is running with my dog once a day. I am underweight.(190cm/72kg)
I feel like crap now, because some days I just eat like four whole chocolates, in essence it's really hard for me to control my carb cravings, on top of that my carb high is ridiculously short lived, so when I loose control I need to either carb up the whole time, which makes my teeth go to shit, because I usually eat chocolate or something with chocolate in it.
I would like to start taking MMA classes, in the near future, mainly for fitness, but I can't right now, because I feel like shit virtually all the time.
I was thinking about eating high quality wholeprey freeze dried dog food, as it's the most convenient way to enter ketosis, I think. Woul eat seeds to supplement the two essential fatty acids that are missing in that dog food, and get carbs and fibre from leafy greens and apples.
tl;drlol I am trying to gain weight, feel like shit because I am coming down from carbs, too hard.

And always keep in mind that keto diets should run no more than 3 months, otherwise you end up fucking your metabolism.
