This mod wasn't intended to be peasent friendly (no hate).
I loved those times you leeched years for gold and xp and a lvl 18 guy with a greatsword of "yummy" tears onehits nearly everything and is unstoppable soldier who slaugthered everything what wasn't hiding for him or chasing him as mass peasent resistance..
It was a total different play feeling, I mean you totaly were a peasent..
I started warband with crpg just to have this nice feeling (an those times fallen_ rl friend told me about) you wont get nowadays anymore. You had to hide and protect your self close to the enemies all the time and may do usefull stuff but you were nearly useless and in fear, this was hilarious
(also he was gone after that feeling was outpatched sadly :/) this way you get a totaly different feeling inside a battle coz everything will kill you at the beginng, and later on after grinding and getting into the game you get rewarded by being a normal footy, able to swing already some kind of sword and no more wearing poorly tunics.. I'm still in love with my lolhammer which cost my first ~850golds I hardly earned trying to eaven survive, thats nothing new players have to deal with that way anymore for real..
So they think coz leveling up and more monies they are some kind of soldiers but an armed peasent wont be warrior in an instant..
Also regarding to those gold changes:
We we're forced to play mostly with low cost gear like tunics or up to 3,5k body and low helmet low boots costs and stuff or medium if you want to wear it over 15 rounds or something, otherwise you wont get much money ingame while playing so there were not so many knights and stuff like now.. sure there were several rich but those times are passed.. But this was a huge feature coz mostly an plated guy which spends some money for the team, could win again even while loosinfg mostly all the time before... I liked that, gold was something worthy not like now where everyone ripped the shit out of the market gathered all the stuff from the newbs and now wonder no one plays anymore..
Not sure if my point is clear, but all I want to say is that this wont make them play better or something else.. They still have to face those "hardcore" players and those is always random for them to kill, with loomz/lvl or without.. Force them to grind the shit out of the game was in my sight the best way to teach them the art of combat systems.. (addiction, mechanic, but also teamwork and stuff)..

read something about gamemodes afterwards..
Siege mode is awesome, still was sad since players tended to form realy huge banner stacks so it was nearly not playable later on.
Strat idea was awesome just not my thingy coz the times are realy reallife eating
Battle is the most hated mode but also the most hardcore mode since you have one life.. recommended to get a different feeling of your "ingame life" and handy it worthy but lacks of speed and was a griendfast.. Siege was the stuff those days and well with my 2handed maul I always feelt kinda home there.. But what has this to do with the topic?

Someone mentioned tutorials...
There are lots of them on youtube..
Here are some selected shortly which nearly explain everthing expect the web ui I guess..
Mechanics (without nudge)
Pretty all explaining guide which was realy helpfull
And of course hundreds more like ripperx and stuff and the "oldscool realy hyped unoffical trailer 2010"
and the crpg guide
//edit again
Found an old gameplay vid
and the old tutorial
http://forum.melee.org/beginner's-help-and-guides/moschers-crpg-guide/also there was a tutorial about peasent bunkers and stuff but cant find them anymore :(
But most ppl dont want to have to watch yt vid to learn a game they already thing they know about or would you?
Instead I like this tutorial idea :)
Also if you realy want to give everyone same chance you have to remove the loom system, remove levels and go native to say it harsh.
Other way would be to set STF to most highes lvl around those times so the truely improtant changes your str/agi and skills are equaly... But like I mentioned earlier this wasn't intended and def. destroy the ground layout crpg sticked to
Well I truely write to much but yeah I stop here sry for a small wall of txt
