Skallagrim is a medieval combat enthusiast and generally does his research very well, and yes, when making a game that is suppoused to FEEL good and enjoyable, one cannot have 100% realism. Treating such sources (and other like Lindybeige etc.) as advice is imho a good idea. And since this is precisely what it's called - an ADVICE for ANIMATORS, that's how it's related to M:BG development.

Even if he only criticises Ryse combat, it doesn't mean his advice can't be taken by devs of a game with directional combat, if not for specifics then just for the "general" way of handling animations.
Nemo prudens punit, quia peccatum est, sed ne peccetur.
I (used to) manage character issues, reverting, restoring and fixing related mistakes and some other stuff. Feel free to message if you encounter a problem.
He's not the hero DTV deserves but he's the one they need.

... but only possible with wiking shields. because other shields usually have a forearm strap what makes this movement impossible..

and what is the problem to make some weapons/ shields with other animations/ advantages ?
I hope in M:BG shield will work like that when someone hit you when you are unprepared to block that, it should still hit in the shield not you -,- like in Mount and Bullshit

I'd love to have a proper stance (or stances , possibly?) for shielders. Obviously attack animations have to be somewhat recognizable for game balance purposes.
