I need a new chair... my back hurts.

Ok, my back has convinced me to invest in a new chair for PC gaming and spending hours on a PC...

I've been looking around at reviews on amazon, youtube, google but none of them really seem like thorough/ trustworthy reviews... The majority of them seem like the company doing the review was given chairs by the chair manufacturers and in return the companies gave the chairs good reviews so they would send them more free chairs in the future OR it seems like the chairs they are reviewing only fit people within a certain size...

So I come to you, my beloved community of qualified, freedom loving, unbiased, free thinking chair purchasers and sitters of chairs... Drop some steamy knowledge upon thy chest so that I might become more enlightened.

I'm aiming to spend around 300$-400$ (or less) but might be persuaded to go as high as 600$ max for something that caresses my backside with the tongues of 1000 virgins or a similar feeling.
Also I have a small frame... 5'7'' (yes I'm a midget) and an average build.

Has anyone spent a good deal of time finding the right chair? What worked for you? How much you spend? How much of a difference did you find between your expensive chair and your former cheapy office swivel chairs?

I love you all, lets hold hands as you lead me gently into the land of office chair enlightenment....

Well I don't really like sports games, I'm more into strategy and RPG 

Nah I swim already 10 hours per week for my job and do some light lifting once in a blue moon... Doing more is such a chore.

I recently got this one due to the same problem. It is quite comfy. I'd recommend it but it was manufactured by a local brand. Look for the ones that are designed after race car seats. Those may be too expensive though, but they are ergonomic.

One thing worth paying attention is the height of the back rest. My backaches stemmed from it being too high. It was preventing my neck from regaining its natural curve and that took its toll from my entire spine. After I got this, I stopped suffering from the horrible backaches.

Got myself a new one too, couple of weeks ago.
No brand, just one with an adjustable back, that was important to me.

Other than that, try to change the way you sit a little bit every 30 minutes or something. Move your arse around a little. That works for me to avoid any tensions.

Put your pc on a raised desk and stand in front of it.  Sitting is one of the worst things for your back.

A few weeks ago I bought an office desk with an electric motor so I can raise or lower it at will. I was afraid I wouldn't use it much after finding a sweetspot but this hasn't been the case and I change its height many times a day, depending on how I sit or what I do, including raising it so I can use my PC standing.

Together with it I also bought a new office chair, this time outside my usual price range of around 220USD (this one cost about 400USD) but I can feel the difference in my back, main thing about it is that it is highly customizable so I can adjust it until it fits me just right.

If you're looking for quality my recommendation would be to go directly to an office supplier instead of the usual furniture shop, but remember most of the pressure on your back comes from your bearing; how you sit and not what you sit on.

did that during exams.  also do work next to gaming,  and had a standing desk with a huge tv instead of screen.  best setup possible,  and no back probs.  also not joking about sports. sitting is THE sickness of our modern society, nigga pussy ass shit.  but if you get in a good bunch of hours of real healthy motion,  your body can compensate much better for the unhealthy positions our body is forced into these days.
