I care, because if they go down EU economy will be affected and per usual scenario, poorest countries will suffer the most. You might live in Finland, but be sure that you will have to pay for debts of Greece before Germany. Because Germany is in a position to enforce things the way they want them to be.

Oh well, who cares. The current Greeks aren't even real Greeks, they're a blend of Albanians, Slavs and Turks formed in Turkey.

Yeah, because all of the above are older peoples than the Greeks

Older than the current Greeks, yes.

I partially agree with you, ancient Greeks would be ashamed of us for sure.

but I have a slight objection, there is still Greek blood to the Greeks, but it`s not 100% Greek, it contains some Italians and Turkish blood and vice versa.

The same as everyone everywhere.

Greece's failing are nothing to do with ethnicity or the likes, Xant's point seems more a joke than a serious one. It doest matter who the 'Greek people' are or what their genetic ethnicity is what matters is that people living in a first world developed economy (sic) are facing the real possibility of total economic failure with knock on consequences across the EU. Meanwhile politicians are exacerbating these problems and playing with the future of millions of peoples lives for their own personal gains. What disgusts me most is that politicians from across Europe are turning on the Greek people to line the pockets of bankers, and the american tool that is the IMF, who caused the whole economic collapse in the first place. Greece needs to stay in the EU but the IMF and these bankers need to actually face some politicians who will stand up to defend the interests of the common people and tell them to go fuck themselves.

First off, Greece isn't really a first world economy. What happened is that they borrowed to live far above their means for decades, giving the impression of being socially advanced. Truth is, the country's administration itself is entirely dysfunctional and even with a richer economy they wouldn't make enough to pay for their social programs. Poor EU countries like the Baltics are rightfully enraged at the fact that the EU has been supporting Greece's lunatic behavior while they had to pay and suck it up with poor social security.

As for the now increasingly likely exit of Greece, that would be a great thing for the rest of the union, economically. That debt is currently being paid by you and me, EU citizens. If Greece gets out then it's recollection open season and you won't pay those additional help packages. The only issue is that we don't want to leave Greece alone for geopolitical reasons. The situation is very much Greek people versus rest of Europe's people.

It's absurd, Greece has brought it all on themselves. The population evades taxes like it's going out of fashion and there's "good ol' boys" corruption everywhere, money being almost literally thrown down a well. It makes no sense at all to support behavior like that.

Baltics are part of EU for 11 years, Greece for 34 years. Term Europe is coined in Greece.

For Europe it would be best to go to basics and respect historical borders. Let Baltics and Scandinavians have their Union, let UK reassemble Commonwealth and keep Europe within its borders. Will be less friction and in time those unions will become stable enough to consider next step, continental or World government.

The Baltics and Nordics will never have a Union. If your case were to happen Leshma the Baltics will end up being completely alone and fucked in the arse.

And Kafein, tbh I personally dont think we are enraged that EU let it all slip. Theres massive passiveness among the common people and politicians about that. We dont really care. We dont really pay that much asfask. Our poor-social security wouldn't be better even if Greece was rich. Related to EU however, we are massively enraged at Italy, because "those filthy mafia pastaeaters"(an actual quote) are letting all those immigrants freely into their country and than guilttripping rest of Europe to give them free stuff while our own population is somewhat homeless and well, not very rich. Forcing Eastern Europeans to take colored people with different culture will definately only end in tears.

Only your country and your choices are to blame. Baltic countries operate differently from rest of Europe. You barely have any debt, you don't take money from others as easily some other countries do. You are healthy but at the same time your growth is stunted because you don't have capital. Very strange way of developing a country. If Baltic countries were to find massive oil deposit you could easily become new Norway, maybe even richer. Your countries don't fit the capitalism mold. Unlike leader countries that create value such as Germany and China and lazy spenders like Italy or United States (they are bit special, because they have military power that gives their actions legitimacy), Baltic countries are somwhere in the middle of those two extremes. They don't create much, but they don't spend much either.

It is interesting how cmp is here to blame Greece for being lazy, unproductive cancer of EU when his own country is nothing but a bigger version of that Greece and if they keep it this way, they will be next on the list some day (or they won't because fascist past guarantees them good relations with Germany and USA).

Wait, that's actually what EU people see? Holy fuck, I didn't know they were that dumb/blind.

Thats definetly not the impression we get in the u.k.  A very strange viewpoint and I'd be suprised if it was widely held.

The only absurd thing here is your post.

Europeans think that the money that they gave to Greeks went straight to our pockets, which is really retarded to think about it.

95% of the money that Greece borrowed the last 5 years, all went straight to the banks.

Sure, there are plenty  Greeks who tax evade and are corrupted, but please don`t pretend like there is corruption only in Greece, besides, the three biggest corruption scandals in the last 50 years of Greece`s history, involve German companies.

Did you know that in 2004 the Germans loaned money to Greece, and with the same money the Greek government bought military submarines from Germany, and the funniest thing is that the sub`s were broken.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/apr/19/greece-military-spending-debt-crisis

http://www.lepointinternational.com/it/politica/europa/550-the-submarine-deals-that-helped-sink-greece-.html

I know that you being a Finn is hard being neutral, since your country is probably the biggest muppet that Germany has, Merkel says jump and you say how high, but for fuck sake, do some research before writing bullshit like that.

Sure, Greeks arent saints, but we aint the devil either.

Tomorrow I`m gonna vote No, and deep inside I wish that Greece defaults, and all of you "higher than thou" punks lose 320b euros, let`s see if you`re gonna like that.

Greece survived from far worst scenarios than a default, and in all honesty i`m sick and tired of reading all of  your "you owe us money" posts, while Greeks commit suicide every day.

8.000 suicides since 2009 and counting, thank you European bros.
