I would be hyped for Ion because it's inspired by Space Station 13 (which is a fantastic game), but Dean Hall is keeping my hype controlled.
Always though he's a massive douche, but dude's actually big time nerd. Seems that the truth is, he developed a mod, masses went crazy over it, he couldn't cope with it or deliver what he promised (probably under influence of the huge hype himself) and things happened the way they did. He also said that he planned to leave DayZ project a lot earlier, plan was to sell it to Bohemia so they can develop it.
DayZ is looking better than ever based on what they've shown on E3 PC Gaming Conference. They are coming back to the roots, survival aspect of the game.
Years have gone by, but frankly speaking none of the survival games are at DayZ level. Even Sony tried and miserably failed to copy the formula. DayZ still has a future.
