I can tell you what not to watch. Interstellar.

God what a bunch of boring american propaganda crap, overhyped, overpoduced, can only intrigue someone who just now discovered there is "kosmos" around us not jesus in the clouds. Novice lvl shit even by my trully humble knowledge about outer space standards.

Skip if possible. I hate movies of today...

D:

I was just planning to watch it today. Fan of Christopher Nolan since I liked Inception a lot and ofc there's also Hans Zimmer's orgasmic music. I doubt I'll be disappointed as much as you since I don't expect the movie to surpass my knowledge of ze kozmoz. Heck, I don't know that much about space and I'm having a hard time finding a good DOCUMENTARY that will tell me something new. It's all in the books.

Never expected to learn anything from a Hollywood movie either, just be prepared for enormous ammounts of crying, boring story and be sure to slap on some subtitles for mcconaughey, that man can't talk to save his life.

Enjoy
And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works

Recent sci fi film I enjoyed far more than expected (I assumed it'd be crap from trailers and posters), The Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise. Pretty solid film, like Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day.

Lots of films do the generic 'modern day/slightly in the future earth and then aliens invade!' films, and they're normally awful and generic, but I was impressed by Edge of Tomorrow they struck a really good balance between sci-fi and real-world. Maybe I just enjoyed it so much cos I had crap expectations, wonder what other people thought of that film if anyone else watched it?

I liked Edge of Tomorrow a lot as well, regardless of Tom Cruise. Then again I would sex Emily Blunt anytime so that balanced it out.

Emily Blunt is beyond hot in that movie. Also it is the first film where I found Tom Cruise genuinely funny at times.

Haven't seen Interstellar. Prometheus is rubbish movie with epic potential. Alien universe is so godlike that even after such horrible acting and scenario, I still want to see the sequel.

Gravity is worse than Prometheus...

@ The Edge of Tomorrow

Read "All you need is kill", book on which the movie is based on.

Martyrs
Haute Tension
Descent
Cannibal Holocaust

The horror documentary about Japanese Unit-731. The one I've seen has been particularly gruesome and isn't easy to find. Google search will give you true documentaries which aren't scary at all. The one I'm talking about is like a movie, bunch of stories depicted as the real thing (starts with Russian girl torture by removing her teeth).

Martyrs is especially fucked up because it isn't just gore, it is physiological horror as well. It will have an effect, you'll be fucked up for next few days.

This and i would add some others :

- The Devil's Rejects
- Calvaire
- Frontier(s)
- Funny Games (1997 not the recent)
- Mum&Dad (a bit sadic ye)
- Hard Candy (surprisesurprise!)
- Inside

Prometheus sucks as an Alien franchise movie, but as a random sci-fi film its OK. Just demands a huge amount of suspension of disbelief with how incompetent the crew are

Interstellar was a big letdown for me. I never liked Nolan much (Inception is great on many levels, though), but somehow I still expected this film to be great.  But meh, first 20-20 minutes were nice, but from the moment he finds that hidden space-station it got worse and worse for me.

And yeah, Edge of Tomorrow is surprisingly good, Tom Cruise is really great in it.

Also Looper is fun.

London Boulevard, with Keira Knightly and Collin Farrel. This movie got pretty bad reviews afaik, but I really liked it. Reminds me a bit old movies made by Guy RItchie.

Oh, and Birdman was awesome ;) Rarelly get this feeling that I watch somehting really special and unique, but that's how I felt watching Birdman :P
