cRPG on Mac OSX

Hello guys,

Been a long time since I last played cRPG, and I'd really love to come back (I can't stand native anymore). I do not have a gaming pc for the moment, only my MBPR which is running warband nicely anyway. Problem is that I can't bootcamp it nor use a parallel desktop. I saw messages of people being able to run it with Wine. I tried myself many times but I'm getting stuck everytime at some point.

Does anyone know how to make it work and can help me to run cRPG ?

Thank you

Bootcamp man :)

Then you can play any pc game without performance issues. Besides windows 7 will fly on your machine.

It would probably be a good start if you told us where you are getting stuck.

I'm stuck when I try to launch the .exe with Wine, saying that there was no executable to be found. I also tried with the launcher's folder a friend sent me.

Exactly when did you become a mac expert? :D I'm the one with a hackintosh here.

I tried it, it sorta works in CrossOver.. But last time I tried it ran cRPG over 2 monitors, laggy as fuck. On my supercomp. So I suggest you just avoid that, clear some space on your disk and install bootcamp. It's a pretty quick process.

I used to play on bootcamp, but I really can't now. That's why I said no bootcamp. I guess cRPG will wait a few more months.

I don't think that's so easy man :)

But seriously, install bootcamp, don't see how this can be impossible... Because even if you got it to work with virtualization, you would not have a good gameplay experience because of lagginess, and you really need a smooth framerate and gameplay to enjoy wb/crpg.

The thing is, it already works fine under Wine (I personally tested it on Mavericks, Yosemite and several Ubuntu versions).
You said you get an error about a missing executable. Can you write the exact error message or upload a screenshot?

Because even if you got it to work with virtualization, you would not have a good gameplay experience because of lagginess, and you really need a smooth framerate and gameplay to enjoy wb/crpg.

Wine is not virtualization and it runs older Direct3D9 games like Warband very well (comparable with Windows).

Some people have a fucking job that require a mac because of stuff, m8.

If they have a fucking mac, then they got job that requires mac (because of mac or some stuff) Then they enough cash to buy a pc that can run a fucking 8 years old game.

Besides what stuff could they possibly need on a mac?

Would the employer fire them because they got windows or something?

I love fucking mac vs pc discussions!

Well, I have both, on one machine, because of several reasons.

OSX is more stable than windows, in my 10+ years of experience with it. It's better suited working on, simply because there are less games for it, and generally you get a much superior system with less tweaking than windows. Their updating system, their integration of all things email, messaging, facebook, applications, alerts, photos..

On windows I have each and every application asking me for updates in their own unique interface, frequency, etcetc..

OSX has way better color management, something that is critical if you are working with print, design, photography or video..

No viruses. Helps a lot with stability. blah blah blah. :)  If u run osx on a mac, troubleshooting and bug fixing, drivers etc, are easier because many people run exactly the same hardware. Also, very good build quality on their stuff. My MBP is 5 years old or so, still works fine after years of 24/7 abuse. (Had to change fans a few times though..)
