Team Death Match

(Updated/Edited)

Why TDM was removed because of Strat, I have no idea. It has become clear that Siege is a substitute for players who want TDM. But for whatever reason haven't come out of the closet about it yet.

One of the main problems, and deterrents for new and old players to play cRPG is: Death Wait Time, Lack of Experience, Gear Difference (e.g.+1-3) and Level Difference.

Why are these problems?

Players are unable to learn how to play and develop builds or play styles effectively in the face of fierce and overpowered competition. This is further troubled by quick deaths and a waiting period that doesn't give you the chance to learn from your mistakes! (Siege and Duel are not substitutes for this!)

How could we fix this: Returning Team Death Match! (2-4 Minute Rounds to maintain Multiplier Model)

Allowing both new and veteran players to LEARN from their mistakes WITHOUT PAUSE is vital to developing your ability to play effectively! NOT only can you LEARN from your mistakes! Team Death Match is a more exciting and team oriented game mode than Battle! The ability to group up and reinforce each other after dying is in it's greatest essence: team work.

On top of all this, with CRPG's current low population this will keep the action alive and intense. Instead of based off the best duelists of each respective team fighting to the death at the end!

Give Team Death Match a chance, beg for it to come back! Come one, come all!

- cRPG is largely imbalanced and most players get killed in one hit regardless of level.

wat

I can change it to "two hits" but that doesn't make it any better.

Thats a huge difference though, and yes it does make it better. Even then i think 3 hits is closer to the average.

Two or three hits does not make it better.

This grim fact is exceptionally true for new or poor players. Who are easily overtaken by several hits in succession and killed within seconds. Because they lack the gear, level, or experience required to compete efficiently.

This is a large problem and by far a major deterrent to new members of the community. Battle is designed as a hardcore game mode as opposed to Team Death Match which is more casual.

Players PREFER an experience where they can fail and try to learn from their mistakes the second time without pause! It's far more enjoyable to PLAY the game, than watch someone else play it for you.

Siege has respawns just play that then, and it has an objective so even if you cant score kills you can atleast attempt to force your way in on a flag. TDM is just chaotic without any real objective or goal, just killing. I dont think a TDM server would be populated much tbh.

The problem with siege is you're often stuck fighting in unruly and narrow areas. Which again is a problem for new/poor players because they're still learning how to exploit animations.

TDM is just chaotic without any real objective or goal, just killing. I dont think a TDM server would be populated much tbh.

That is the only goal of battle. Having a flag at the end doesn't give you a goal, it only serves as a countermeasure to delaying the round.

Team Death Match provides the opportunity to respawn. Which in turn would promote more team play as you have the ability to reinforce each other and fight as an effective and disciplined unit. Instead of being spread out and fighting solo in siege/battle after attrition. You have the chance to fight as an army would, with NUMBERS and TACTICS not DUELISTS.

Battle is more about surviving and sticking together though.

The way you describe TDM is the complete opposite on how its played, its basically respawn, find closest target and rush to fight. Every single native tdm server ive played is complete utter chaos. Not to say you dont learn combat from it, but i think siege serves that purpose but better, with a goal of being able to push flags to win.

That isn't an objective, that is how you should play regardless of game mode.

You can't ignore a threat when you see it, this is just as true in Battle. You won't see anyone avoiding combat unless they're severely outnumbered or play a ranged class. (or trolling)

Players on Native do get together and form small squadrons on TDM, it makes for both exciting and unpredictable game play. Check in during prime time, it's a treat worth indulging in.

I'm not against siege, but it's a niche game mode. The player base that is playing siege, is playing because of the respawns. Not the joy of besieging a castle.

What can possibly go wrong, all I ask is a trial of bringing Team Death Match back? Something new (old actually) for the community is what cRPG needs right now. Team Death Match rules the gaming world because of it's simplicity and fun! Give it a limited chance on either NA2 or NA7, and the community can decide if it's worth staying or not.

Give it the support it wants and needs Gravoth!

chadz is against TDM anyways. I used to want it aswell, but after having played some on native i just dont think its a good idea.

And surviving is kind of an objective on battle, because its the focus of the mode, you die and you get to sit on the bench for a couple of minutes. While having rspawns completely removes that.

I'm aware of chadz dislike of TDM. Which is unwise since it's not included as a game mode in Melee Battlegrounds. (not yet at least)

TDM is a big seller, and if new/old players are interested in playing CRPG for TDM. That can serve as a gateway and introduction to MBG. By word of mouth is the best form of advertisement.

However, onto the subject of TDM in CRPG again.

Respawns are a representation of reinforcements, it is both a practical and realistic feature in a game based on medieval warfare. What isn't practical nor realistic is two forces fighting to the death until one side is left standing.
