At this point I personally don't know what to feel towards the new game. Obviously my nostalgia can't cope with this and the classic is dead. But this "new" take might be interesting. Only thing that really bugs me is that you can play as a female on the Empire side ...

read they're gonna add dynamic map, like if rebels are winning an empire ship will fall down on the planet, now that is cool. but the games looks way too caotic for my old man standards :/

Even if this game is atrocious. Calling it a bf mod is unbelievably far fetched. Its not using any of the same assets for a start, I dont remember walking tanks, magical abilities and lightsabers in my battlefield but maybe because I didnt buy the DLC?

Except the only Bethesda game that you could possibly consider a mod is FNV, which was developed by obsidian, not bethesda

So I've done some digging, and here are the (mostly disappointing) facts I've found so far:

- Only 4 planets to fight on when the game launches, with more to come via DLC of course. ONLY FOUR. WTF! (hoth, endor, sullust (not seen in the movies), and tatooine)
- No campaign mode (but there will be a few short solo/co-op missions)
- Already planning DLC, even though the game isn't even finished (nothing new here, typical DICE/EA move). At least the first DLC will be free, and is based on a planet from episode 7 (Jakku).
- No space battles
- No prequel era
- Supposedly there is both first AND third person view (yay!)
- You can play as heroes/villains again, as well as iconic ships like the millenium falcon
- No confirmation if there will be singleplayer with bots (but probably not, other than the few "campaign" missions)

Not looking good so far, but if they really make those four maps/planets complete masterpieces, it could be decent. 

EDIT: So apparently four planets doesn't mean just four really large maps, since the DLC planet is coming with two maps set on that planet. Still would be nice to have more varied scenery, regardless.
EDIT 2: It appears as though the class system will be similar to the battlefield games (surprise, surprise) where you can customize your weapon loadout. Maybe there won't even be a class system anymore, nothing was really mentioned about that.

How come SWBF2 had so much stuff in it, while 3 barely pushes a third of that? I really dont see anything but downgrades (except graphically and physics wise i guess)..

What a dissapointment. Seriously, if it wasnt for the servers being shut down, i would rather play 2 over 3 anyday from whats shown.

Only issue I see is the lack of planets. Space battles kinda sucked in BF2 and it's bad for players who don't like flying cos that's all they've got. Battlefield 3 and 4 got criticized for a poor single player so I'd rather they didn't bother with one than add some crappy afterthought.

Prequel era is both annoying and understandable. It's obviously not the time period they're going for which is OK, but I sure would like to run about as an ARC trooper.

Well it sucked in BF2 that why you improve it in the sequel, instead of removing it completely. They have the money for it, and the engine already has good flight mechanics afaik.

Why improve on gameplay when you can milk the franchise with the same product?

Even the battlefront games made for the PSP got more customization and gameplay elements than this. You could fight on the ground, find an x-wing. Fly around on the ground shooting at infantry, then you could fly up into a space battle like BF2 ...
