On the internet everything is backed by real world evidence, science or examples in history. It just depends how many other examples of real world evidence, science or history you're willing to ignore to suit whatever point you're trying to prove. This is the way of the internet.

My examples from history are Agincourt, Crecy and Poutiers. I've already made a suitable vague and generic description of 2 kinds of wood making the longbow the best, that's basically the same as a thesis when it comes to online debate right? Also for real world evidence i posted the first result on youtube of a man shooting a longbow and talking about it, i searched 'man firing longbow':

Science, history and the world agree that the longbow is the best weapon of all time.
That's probably the most impressive archery youtube flic I've seen in this forum yet.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

You can prance about and go "lol internet arguements" all you like Heskey. It's not like this is a huge philosophical debate that has shaped academia for the past decades or anything, of which internet arguements among mere plebs such as us are a symptom, right?

Because this is totally the place for a huge philosophical scholarly debate, right?

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

Personally I think its a little meanspirited to make a thread with the message:"religion is retarded and everyone who believes it is a utter nutbag". Thats something 13 year olds state. Im not religious, but one thing grown up "normal people" should know is that furiously calling religion shit and laughing loudly at it so everyone can hear, is not a very decent approach. It doesnt make you any better than the very people you laugh at. It even makes you a bit worse of a person.

They can shit on Chu Ko No all day, they stand (Chu Ko) No chance! And if you're willing to wait 9 hours you can kill a castle with them by outranging it, just like in real life.

Exactly. That's why I don't quite like about cRPG.
If I hop on EU2 and shoot the walls with my bow they just won't catch fire.

I hope M:BG will be a bit more realistic in that regard.
For all the non-believers, look no further than this thread for proof that while strat battles are won/lost in NA3/EU3, strat wars are won and lost on the forums.

Well if you make claims about the world based on a little book written thousands of years ago you open your views up to ridicule. If you are insulted because you don't like your views being scrutinised then that is unfortunate but hard to avoid. I think you can debate this without insulting the person directly while criticising their wishy washy set of unsupported ideas though and I don't think there is anything morally wrong with that, quite the opposite

I think a lot of atheists get some kind of self gratification from trying to make other people look stupid though, which doesn't necessary help people to understand why they are wrong. They can just end up having an "us vs them" idea in their mind where it becomes personal and missing the real point of the debate

I know what you mean, you'd think with 20 man-at-arms hitting a wall, or with Elite Longbowmen shooting it that the building would catch fire and collapse, but it doesnt. M:BG was talking about realistic collisions so i'm sure it'll be a feature. Bearing in mind we are talking about 'Elite' Longbowmen, not just the regular kind, you expect a certain standard.

Exactly. They aren't called Elite for nothing.

I also hope that Cannonball shooting cars with racing stripes will be implemented. After all they were there in Age of Empires, and since that is historically accurate, it means there is no reason not to add those cars.

"...why they are wrong"? Nobody is right, you know. Why not let people believe what they like, aslong as its not dangerous? If it keeps them away from lets say, stealing my car or murdering me, be my quest. I went to couple of religious lectures back in my day and it kinda opened by eyes. Not to Jesus, but...other things. There were people there that stated they had almost drank or OD-d themselves to death, until they found socalled "peace". No psychiatrists or anything other managed to do that for them. And they seemed like really nice people. They were religious, but they kept their mumbojumbo to themselves, if I said im not, so we talked about other stuff. So practically it did save them. They would probably be dead or in jail by now. Religion has its  good and bad sides, just like everything else. So why not let a person believe whatever? Assholeism does not have a special religion, country or skincolor. Whoever states that its all bad has clearly only scratched the surface of the subject.

Discussing on the internet is very different to real life. Its very disrespectful to question something that is very close to a person, and wouldn't be the sort of topic you would lay into like you can here.

I do think from a personal perspective religion can be very useful for some people, but when you look at the wider picture there is something quite sinister about it all. Its about political control, it holds back future generations from progressing with the times, causes wars and suffering, encourages some poor morals etc. Sometimes people are simply wrong btw - this goes back to the relativism I mentioned before. Not that you should necessarily go around shoving it in people's faces though :D
