Yeah works fine.

Just a bit worried with these wpf penalties incoming. You'll be forced to have a str/if build with peasant gear to avoid heavy wpf penalties. :\

The minimum is 6, and to reach what it is currently (10), you need 5 IF or 27 strength. If you wear medium gear, it's like -10 wpf, not a big deal for a melee player, especially if you have 180+ wpf anyways.

Internally:

Strength ranged can actually compete against the other ranged archetypes with a combination of more HP, decent wpf, and better armor. Agi and Balanced-Agi archers need 5 IF to have the same 10 weight threshold as before, and wpf penalty for range was changed to be %-based like melee (which helps strength ranged even more). Overall, the defensive abilities of agi vs strength are going to be more pronounced. These ranged probably won't be able to kite very easily, and adding IF as an important skill further pushes away from those extreme builds. Balanced/strength won't have much wpf to split and are prone to being rushed down.

Externally:

Less damage to offset improved builds, while melee still retains most of their buffs. Low tier shields are buffed so you only need a small investment to at least fight against ranged, while a low tier shield won't protect against melee for very long. Strength has better synergy with armor, so they'll keep their wpf advantage over ranged with good armor as well.

Other:

Different aspects are still being discussed/tweaked.

Um, so what are the changes that will affect archers exactly?

Do I have to sink a significant chunk of points into IF now to continue to mitigate WPF reductions because of gear worn??

According to the stats I get this with my light gear:

16.7 Armor weight
25.2 Total weight
27.5 Wpf penalty weight


One Handed:   113/138
Polearm:   136/166

This is quite a lot.

Depends on what gloves you have. You're losing ~7wpf from the standard threshold assuming medium gloves, half a WM point.

Only 1.2 weight ones. 10.8  weight body armor.

I have 0 IF and 18 STR, so these changes are penalizing me for having shield skill instead of IF.



On my low level 2h alt with +/- with a bit lighter gear I have Two Handed:   136/141 only because it's 21 STR and 7 IF.  :lol:

This is a huge hit on hibrids and agility oriented characters.

When I put in something close to your gear with a 4x weight penalty for gloves and the current threshold, I achieved 145 wpf from 166. Change the penalty from 4x to 6x for gloves and it's 141. Because you lack IF, that's an extra 5 wpf lost. 5-9 wpf loss isn't much of a big deal when you're going to have above 180 wpf if you're agi, even when hybridizing. 1 WM recoups that loss and more, and you're still faster because of athletics, aided even more by being able to push athletics to its limits.

18 strength has a threshold of 7 and it only gets better from there. Strength hybrids are of course aided by this, too.

A little unsure if I like the new XP/level situation or free, weekly respecs, but the rest of it sounds awesome.

Went ahead and threw together a graph comparing the old to new XP-to-level curve.
Not sure if anyone else has posted one yet, but it makes it a lot easier to visualize what's going on with in regard to the XP change.

Add another level to scale in between 37-38 this sort of wrecks people like me at 270 million xp your putting us in the same bracket as people who have half or less?
