I preordered RIFT cuz of it's unique class system. Played it for 2 weeks then quit because:
-It has the worst UI i've ever seen in any kind of game. Too ugly
-Classes were terribly unbalanced. Mages were better healers than clerics and clerics (Inquisitor based) were invulnerable DPS machines.
If you don't mind seeing heavyily armed warriors dealing more ranged than your ranger
Assassins tanking better than your heavily armed warrior
Mages healing better than your healer
Healers dealing more damage than your mage
Go for it.
It was fun but too absurd i couldn't adapt by breaking down my stereotypical mmorpg classes. PvP server was hell of a fun though. It has some unique classes aswell. Didn't know it went F2P so i really dunno what happened to the game
But those were from the very first month of it's release maybe they turned that game into a masterpiece by now. (Don't think so though)
I could suggest LOTRO if you are fan of lotr series though. Too much RP potential and that game became F2P in a good way. Played Lotro for 2 years then few months after it turned F2P. It was actually better after turned into F2P. Well some people with names "xXx_VasiliZaitsev_xXx" and such appeared after moving to F2P and ruined some RP but as for PvP more people brang more joy to Ettenmoors !
Lotro had it's own unique PvP system btw.
Called PvMP (Player vs Monster Player) Players with their own charcters join Ettenmoors map and fight players who play with their monster characters (Instantly max level once created, includes wargs, goblins, uruks etc with similar classes to good side. Those characters progress by some other system i forgot rather than experience. There are castles to take for both sides etc really really great and exciting game both pvp and pve.)
Only drawback is it's old. It might lost most of it's playerbase and graphics and gameplay may seem odd compared to new gen mmorpgs.
I quit both RIFT and LOTRO cuz of this fucking cRPG btw
Hitting 1-2-3-4-5 hotkeys to swing your sword started not to satisfy my after i taste cRPG.
