Official Response from the Squid Republic; A trade agreement was never struck between Hospitaller and the Squid Republic. It requires a 60% vote in the council to pass. The hospitaller agreement received 2/16 votes. Let's entertain the notion that there was an agreement struck and look at the facts. There has only been one transaction this strat between the Squid Republic and Hospital, Wes dropping off goods at New Dugan. No trade support was ever received and our coffers run dry. The location of the battle is taking place in the Saints territory; see link below. War has not been declared, all Hospitaller in the plains need not worry. Please research your facts before you besmirch us on an open forum.

I back stab people in multiplayer strat games as well if I think it's beneficial to me (mainly only play civ 5, sometimes WarLight or Risk), but I also realize that they (and anyone they can convince of my treachery) will never trust me to make deals again.  Short term gain vs long term consequences.  But hey, that's life really. 

You had 500 goods coming to you, now you have 1200 (700 good gain).  But now you lose a long term trading partner and possibly corrupted your image with other factions who might have wanted to make deals with you.
