After reading the OP, which of the following steps you think would help the mod at this point?

Tweaking the overall XP rate (and the gen bonus if needed) narrowing the difference (a bit) between x1 and x5.;
Increasing the XP rate to low gen characters only;
Creating the Respecc Auction more often (let's say twice per week);
Lowering the XP penalty upon normal respecc;
Awarding respecc chances to donators;
Other (please specify in a comment, or will be ignored).

Humble request: Ease the grind factor

Hello dear community.

I'd like to discuss the "grind factor" of this mod with you.

Fact is, this is an old mod, from an older game. Most old players have already enough heirlooms on their possession or access to them by armory, by simply joining a faction.

At this point, the main struggle is focused on new players, it still takes too damn long to level up and reach an acceptable point to proper gameplay. This either makes them simply give up on the mod, or become frustrated for several hours of real life time while grinding up.

Another issue is the difficulty on getting access to a non-selfdestructing respecc.

Currently you have either of these 3 options:
a) the respecc option, which means you lose 50% ( !! ) of your total experience points, meaning the loss of several dozens/hundreds of real life hours (which by definition is already mindblowing), leading to even more grinding afterwards;
b) the retire option, which while being a good option to new players, leads to a full grind since you start at level 1, again;
c) buy an auction (which costs at the very least, 1.5 million ( ! ) cRPG gold., which at this stage is either done by leeching in-game, or by trying your luck in the jew market place, whereas a handful of jews hold the monopoly, making it a very difficult task.

For really high level characters, this becomes even more complicated (and such is my case), since the solutions above can't be really called as such, for the most obvious reasons.

So, balance changes will happen, builds will become unviable or less viable, and no one likes to play with a gimped half assed character, leading to either stopping to play mod completely, or make use of new grindfest with alts or STF characters (modest stale lvl 30 for gold profit only, aimed at casual gaming).

I truly believe having easier access to respeccs will also help on dealing with the game balance, making it easier to a player to adapt and counter the constant FOTM class migrations, as we are used over the times.

Conclusion: this rant above is simply aimed at making the dev team realize that the time to grindfiestas has passed over the years, and has it's toll on the database, with the wish having both grinding eased and easier access to character respeccs.

Thank you for your time.

The forever trial admin,
karasu.

Easier / less punishing respecs.

I also think your first character should start out at level 20 or so. Gives the player an immediate choice for creating a build and enough strength to carry some equipment. Starting at 3-3 and leveling up for the first time, you're likely to get lost.

In fact, I'm not fond of levels 1-20 in the first place.

I would suggest to start every new gen at lvl20. It is still challanging, but at least you are not useless.

1-20 is useless. Don't know why they make you be cannon fodder for 1/8 of your leveling.

Double xp helps, hopefully it stays forever. Rather than an auction for respecs they should be available in store for like 2 loompoints. Retiring at 31 could be like current respec (so you only lose half xp but still get a loompoint), but if you want you can go all the way to level 1 to get 2 loompoints. Not sure what to do with retiring after level 31

Level 1 and 2 items should have some value in the market by increasing their stats, so the main boost isn't from +3

Oh and if you really care about the plight of newbies get rid of the xbow  :P

If you have ranged troubles use this:

Training lessons should just be produced more often, so that its price gets lowered down to 500-600k.

Or make respec take only 30% of your exp, I dunno. Something should be done.

PS: and also yes, starting lvl as 20, no more 1-19 lvls please.

Skipping peasant levels sounds like a good idea.

Also why not give new players 1 LP for the main char to start with. Would work as an introduction to loom system and as a small boost for the MW hunt.

Make it easier to reach level 31, and apply normal experience rate above. We will hopefully get more new players this way, and it's less frustrating for newly created alts.

Don't make it easier to go over level 31 than it is already, otherwise there will be peer pressure for more grind blah blah everyone will be like nyah I can even go level 37 and must not give up all social contacts can keep even 3 friends but screw love need ta play

Being on peasant level is salt of this mod, why new players [or new characters/alts] shouldn't go through this path ? You want everything gain like in one second and everything easier, where is satisfaction from achieve something ?

The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.

Add every day 4 - 5 Training Lessons, so everyone can buy it for 150 - 300k, just like Exclusive Banner.

But high level HAs would be everywhere.

Aren't they already ?

(click to show/hide)

but to stay on the topic, I would LOVE to get less punishing respecs, like only 1/3 of your XP.

1. Add 1 free respec for everybody every month.
2. Add 1 heirloom respec every 2 weeks add cost of 50k.
or:
Get rid of all the fucking looms.
3. 3x xp until 30 then 2x till 31 and normal above.
