If zombie apocalypse ever happened, the last gun I would think of using would be a fuckhueg colt python.

I mean, this is like most unfitting weapon of them all because:

Only 6 bullets per load. (maybe 7 or 8 if modded)
The recoil. (ill give pass on that one, he obviously knows how to shoot it)
Loud as fuck.
Cumbersome reloading unless you use speed loader, and even then, it is a stretch.
Uncommon ammo.
Heavy.

The Colt Python was a police issued firearm prior to the newer semi auto's of today.  Im sure they're other reasons why they chose a revolver, maybe to show a sort of symbolism for the character or whatever.  But even today revolvers are used in departments who cannot afford to outfit everyone with semi auto's, or as personal preference(as long as you can qualify and it is up to the armorers specifications then it can be used, per policy of the dept.).  This is most noticeably found in the southern states, which just so happens to be where the location of the walking dead is filmed and better yet takes place.  So it somewhat fits why he can use it, and how it isnt outdated or out of era.

It's actually a pretty good choice as zombie apocalypse firearm, because it doesn't use any fancy parts you can't easily replace. It's sturdy, reliable, accurate. It might not be the easiest to handle and doesn't have best shots per minute (with or without reloading) ratings, but the advantages probably outweigh the disadvantages.

The best thing is still a melee weapon. Firearm is only useful in special situations.

I would just carry around a second semi auto. Besides, considering how easy is to unjam semi auto pistol, I would rather have my pistol jamming on me every 12-15 rounds, than having to reload revolver every 6-8.
