I dont get shot through my shield. Maybe you missed that but you have to press and hold right mouse button to activate your directional autoblocker.

It's the downside of big shields, as compared to the smaller higher armour ones. You can either cover your whole body more easily and more resistance to nonshieldbreakers that can get shot through in a few very special cases or have smaller shields (that still cover almost your whole body), more resistant shield vs nonshieldbreakers, faster, etc, that will rarely get shot through.

If you do not want it to happen, get a higher armour shield:

One point of armor can make the difference again crossbow bolt penetration. I think 15-20 armor is about the range where it gets interesting against an arbalest keeping air friction induced damage loss in mind.

#missiles with damage > shield_penetration_offset + shield_penetration_factor * shield(armor)
#will penetrate.

shield_penetration_offset = 30.0
shield_penetration_factor = 3.0

Though I personally rarely suffer it with a heavy round shield, with quite low armor.

I think there is a certain weak spot of shields that allow crossbow bolts to pass through. For that, just move your shield and yourself around a little bit to not allow it to happen.

i was shot THROUGH the shield by dave (again!) closerange. he was aiming at me with xbow so i keep shield up and wait for him to shoot either for me feet or go melee. but he just shot straight through my shield, hs (neck). its ooooold bug or glitch or "feature" (LOL realism go home) thingy where there's a spot on the shield you can shoot thru and dave is a prick and a fucking my old friend taking advantage of it instead of fighting me, he could kill me easily in melee. but fuck dave he is just a lamer exploiter tard and crpg is just a queer fucked up mod that started good but due to too much tinkering its ruined. devs refuse to see and understand and/or they just favorites themselves and/or friends so they can be kings in their own tiny virtual world. they don't give a shit about balance or other classes than the ones they play themselves.

huscarl and I have 7 skill but it doesn't matter what shield I used all the shields have "weak spots" fucking ridiculous its still in game and not fixed we have loads of items and people cry for even more features and items but what about the basics???

yes I think its a bug or glitch or simply a dev-brainfart. please remove it.
