That would be good too.  Fighting with a 1h, and pull out a polearm for either support role (against other infantry) or to rear horses.

So should I use my previous picks? (Bastard Sword, an Elite Cavalry Shield, and a Military Fork/Shortened Spear).

Bastard sword gets severe penalties when used with shield, don't do that.

Right then, what else? should I have a one slot 1Hander and a two slot Pole?
If so, which one(s)?

Any spear thats 141 length+ for rearing horses (stab in the head) should be fine. It should also be sheathable. War spear is a good choice or Battle Fork. Unless you can rear with the extra reach with a shield with shorter ones, don't think you can

You don't have to be able to rear horses but its a great ability. Stop the horse then kill it so the rider falls, just aim well away from his shield if he has one

I was thinking about going for the inferior, but much more affordable Boar Spear.
What would be a good 1handed main? Right now I'm using a Fighting Axe, and have used an Iberian Mace and an Italian Sword before.

Fighting Axe, Langes Messer and Military Sickle are all good one-handed weapons that gets increased stats in secondary mode, which is 2h mode. You should try them out.
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

I have a recommendation for you. Join a clan and use their armory.

Splitting proficiencies is not a bad thing. People will say having both 2h and polearm is a waste, but it can actually be very fun to play; which is the point of playing a game. Having fun. Isn't it? Besides, they actually funcion differently. There are cases where you want to use a spear type of weapon and there are cases where you want to use a 2handed weapon. Same for 1handed weapons too.

Sweet! Now all I need is a Boar Spear and an unusual hat better shield. Right now I'm using the Lion Heather Shield.

And yes Ronin, I know. Still finding a clan.

Boar spear would be fine for rearing horses, but the damage is quite low, especially with a shield (shield makes you do like -20% damage or something with spears). If I just wanted a secondary backup spear in that case with that sort of damage i'd just take a pitchfork

Those 1 handers are fine, but you should just pick something then use only that for a while. Learn its strengths/weaknesses and reach/speed etc

I would prefer a sword with 25+ stab, 30+ swings. Use an axe if you specifically want to play a role were you break people's shields, otherwise you might as well have a stab. Knockdown 1 handers are great but you won't have a stab. I would recommend them for newer players because you will get a hit on someone then can get another free hit in. The stab might be harder to use for newer players, not sure

On the other hand, a damaged War Spear still has some pretty good kick to it. So I guess I'll get it.
Hmm... A Langes Messer comes pretty close to your other remark. Plus it has a 2hand mode, so I'll pick that too.
Any recommendations for a quick cash injection?

Just use bad gear for cash, doesn't really matter. But using crappy gear can have a negative effect and make you get lower multi if you don't help your team much. You will make money with 20-30k gear. Less is fine too ofc

Good luck. Another thing about blunt weapons - think of cut as having about -10 damage compared to blunt. If you can live without the stab (or you can't use it well) you will do better with ~25 blunt than ~30 cut and you get the knockdowns

Back for more, as always.

I was trying out more and more equipment, but then regular footsoldiering got boring really fast.
I am now trying out the whole Rondel setup. I am doing much better now due to my very quick playstyle preferences (as I was always better with short/fast weapons).
However, I have a few obstacles to hurdle. First off:

What field of view (0-100)and what perspective (1st/3rd) should I use?

And

What equipment should I have?
Right now I am using a Rondel Dagger, Steel Buckler (round), Gambeson, Turban Hat (style points), and Turkish Shoes.

You gear is fine, personal preference. With Rondel stabbing you don't really need much. I would probably wear a helmet but as a new player it doesn't make a huge difference imo

The way you set up your game is personal preference too. You can press - to zoom out a bit but I never bother, and you can increase FOV if you want but again I just use default. Its not going to make you a better player or make a huge difference. I always play in third person for fighting, its better for having a sense of you surroundings imo. But if you shoot quickly switch to first person for the shot, then back to third person when not shooting. This is personal preference too, but if you don't go to first person for shooting your aim will be off a bit (the shots land more below the aim point)
