Yeah I looked into it. It would be a cool reason to actually learn how to make that stuff, but it would take me probably 2 years just to finish a suit of armor unless I made all the most simple options, like coat of plates, and simple gauntlets and maybe a sugarloaf type helmet or Great Helm. I looked into it and you can reasonably get a used set for about 1,000-1,400 USD, but the sizing is going to be a little off unless they made it adjustable from the get go.

Deaths are extremely rare as everyone is wearing heavy plate or heavy mail at least, mostly you just end up with some badass scars in this kind of sport. The armour will cost a ridiculous sum too.

One of these just happened in my city this past year. Not very big, but they were recruiting and letting people sign waivers to put on armor and fight.

Was pretty intense indeed. One dude got hauled off by the ambulance because his can was literally split. Suffered a massive gash on his forehead.

It's funny though, when I saw it happening here, they didn't go based on if you hit the ground. They did it by sheer willpower to get back up after being put down. I guess that's good to see if someones got the fighting spirit.

Some of the bad nerds kept hitting people on the ground though, sure it kept them down, but it was shameful to watch. One of the guys who was hosting came over in his armor pushed him down and brought his poleaxe down on him twice, heavily might I add, and said, "You like that? You like when people hit you while you're down? Let the guy up before you continue fighting again."

i think the funniest bit is where he says

"i don't want to be a dick, but some of you are fat, you need to lose weight"

blatantly a bunch of nerds wearing that armour, would be most amusing if they actually got in shape though lol!

Well if you don't care too much for historical accuracy, you can easily create decent set of armour + a great helmet. An aketon, the clothes that go underneath the armour and more sophisticated helmets with visiors are the parts which are difficult to craft.

the problem is, the U.S is so damn big and there are so little clubs.  I checked the list of official clubs and there was only like 4 for the whole country(Arizona,Illinois,New Hampshire,California).  So it truly isnt large enough to get into unless you either A) live within a sensible driving time to one, or B) are so willing to get into this sport you dont mind driving for like 3-4 hours for a practice.  I myself live in Maryland so the closest one would be in New Hampshire, which is around 8hours by car.

Maybe in the european countries where this originated as a sport it would be easier, as atleast your countries are the size of our states so your team would be much more centralized then ours.

It is not that easy. If you want to participate in the battle of nations tournament or any of those leagues your armour has to be historical accurate and must not be less than plate armour for all body.

You mean there was some KIA already ? I wonder how the sport could continue if it did, since even in the military people complain when deaths occurs.

How is it seen by the media/people and how do the sport protect himself legally ? Is there any rulebook about the sport ?

for example  in russia they give no shit about protection, I saw some guys fighting there in shirts like pesant( throwing some shit ect) or thet are throwing some heavy shiet from towers walls on the top of enemy team, I think KIA are really rare but there is shitload of contusions concussions and so serious wound

Lol i wonder if anyone would pay to see me, Corsair, Saxon, Vermilion, Casimir and Woody meet up and have a training montage somewhere in England xD followed by an attempt to join the England team. I doubt we'd raise enough money to pay for even one set of equipment lol, even if we made a long youtube documentary about it (complete with ads).

As for the sport, regain some level of fitness and i can't imagine being much worse at it than i am at crpg lol.

As long as you don't use your fists in place of your weapons like the fools in the video are, and don't try to wrestle each other to the ground.

Then I'd pay to view this.

Also, in almost all of the BotN's fights, there's always some R tard who brings a halberd or polearm type weapon, but never uses it, or just doesn't have a clue how.

I know poles are kind of obsolete since it looks like just a bunch of fat guys trying to tackle you to win, but I've been hit with a pugil stick before upside my head when I was military after trying to rush my Combat CO, saw stars and landed face down. Anyone who knows what the hell they are doing with a pole arm or bayonet like weapon could have a field day in those events.

Someone rushes you with their shoulder lowered and shield raised? Deflect their body mass with the polearm and maybe even throw your toe out their to trip them. A fair insta-kill by the BotN standards apparently.

Same thing can be used with the two handed swords, just by half swording, which in that tight of a melee seems the most viable thing you can do since people are just grappling. I want to see someone use the pommel and the hand guard and smash someone in the mouth

Death Waivers, I've signed one before to partake. Interesting stuff when you read them.
