Map Changing in NA1.

I hope that I am not alone in feeling this way, but I would like to respectfully ask that Admins on NA1 refrain from changing maps to Native - Arena all the time.  Yes, I know that some people like arena and that is fine.  Have it added to the server rotation and then we can play it when it pops up.  But the problem is that every time you forcibly change it to arena, it resets the map rotation.  Myself and many others play map after map that we don't particularly like because we know that eventually a map that we do like will pop up and we will get to enjoy it.  But constantly resetting the map rotation because a map pops up that you don't like is unfair to the players who put up with maps that they do not like.

Not trying to cause any drama here, just asking for admins to let the map rotation be.  If you don't like a map or want to add one that isn't on rotation, feel free to go change the rotation.

Thanks

You tell 'em Steamin' Leman. Stop changing the map. If you want to change the maps, get rid of the shitty ones and replace them with Arena and the Blue Cake map.

It would help if you pointed out when these changes happen and who is making them. I very rarely see any admin change the map for any reason, and while plenty of players clamor for Arena I've only witnessed someone actually change it to Arena twice in the last two months.

I've witnessed map change to arena twice in the past week. Maybe a map poll is acceptable, but when they just straight up change it, its kind of messed up. SOME DICTATOR SHIT

Also please don't add arena to the rotation. most overplayed map 2013. Arena is either fun when A: there are like 20 people on so its an appropriately sized map. or B: theres 110 people on so that its pure chaos. Please stay within these unwritten bounds of CRPG Etiquette.

Changing the map should theoretically not reset the rotation as it is currently in shuffle mode, which is completely broken in Warband but it should still randomly select a new map even after having Arena manually selected. Shuffle mode is bugged as fuck though, so perhaps it shuffles the exact same way everytime or something.

You tell 'em Steamin' Leman. Stop changing the map. If you want to change the maps, get rid of the shitty ones and replace them with Arena
Arena is not coming in the rotation because it is way too small from 50 people and up and the campable corridors, catacombs and towers are lame. I heard they played Arena with the double xp event with 200 people though, damn shame I didn't witness that.

and the Blue Cake map.
The what now? If there are any very old maps or maps outside the community or any other maps that you think are good but have been forgotten, find a download link and submit them here http://forum.melee.org/scene-editing/battle-map-submissions-for-official-servers-2-0/

Preferably with some screenshots and they'll be looked at.

rofl. Tanken, You're wrong by about 3000-5000 miles. You should take the time to actually figure out the right persons name before throwing out accusations.

Side thought: The only map worth changing is the one where both teams spawn in the same place.

Was this the specific instance to which you were referring? It took place on 8/19 of this year, and the only reason I have a screenshot of it in the first place is because this particular admin decided to do it twice in a row. After changing the map to arena (no poll) and letting it play out, he changed the map back to arena again the round after that before leaving.

Other things worth noting:
1.) As you can see from the screenshot, at least one person is actively objecting to his decision of changing the map in chat.
2.) At the time, this admin was, if my memory serves me correctly, playing heavy cavalry (Green Corazina Armor, Cataphract Horse, Sugarloaf Helmet etc) and probably benefited considerably in terms of score from the map change.
3.) This particular admin has a penchant for using admin chat for non-admin related business. If you have a reason or opportunity to go back and check the logs relating to this incident, you will likely see at least one or two instances of it in this case alone.

The reason why I am posting this is not because I have any grudge against this particular admin and want to see his powers removed or something dumb like that; on the contrary, I think that having more people available to deal with delayers and imbeciles doing stupid things instead of actually playing the game is a good thing. I merely feel the same way as Leman, in that I would just like to see certain admins limit their actions to their responsibilities and those alone.
