Way of the Spear

So I've been playing this gen with my MW Bamboo Spear again and I love it.

I dedicate my gameplay to taking down horses and helping teammates since I get a great range with it.

What I'm having problems sometimes is the horses.

When I manage to stop a horse especially if the rider has a shield It's almost impossingle do dehorse him unless his horse has already taken damage, no matter where i stab i hit the shield. Also people jumping over me and downblocking the stab to the horses stomach, silly.

I'm looking for help overcoming this difficulties from experienced pikers. share your tips and tricks.

Get a 2h hero beside you, you rear the horse, he finishes it 
Also a lot safer, if you dehorse the guy, bamboo spear is not the ideal weapon to face him if you are alone.

Took a iron or a quarter staff with u.

Always aim for the head of the horse. Know what's around you to predict what way he will run away, then maneuver to that side while he turns his horse and save a stab for when he gets to minor speed. Then you'll get another free rear and should be able to kill the horse.

I know that's what makes it challenging and winning a duel of that sort is quite satisfying. With allot of agi it's not as difficult as one might think. Also I pick up weapons allong the way if  I get bored

Could try a red tassell spear Prpavi, I've had some luck with dehorsing with it and it's pretty good in melee fights too, not as long of course but time it well and you can fuck some shit up.

i have possibly found a new pike glitch, you can bypass shield when you start thrust by aiming at legs/ground and then move aim up. got to test it when i get off work

Indeed, sounds like you would have a bigger chance to get staggered on the shield or floor, giving away a free hit xD

Yes, it may be hard to do but it has happened, not too often tho so it doesn't really matter to be fixed or not.

Or basically any other stab focused polearm, bamboo has a nice combination of length and speed, but the damage is too damn weak.

Huh, I always find stabbing at the head of the horse very risky because of magical shield block. I always stab at the legs, they increased the damage to the legs significantly at some point, never heard anything about it again, but I have no reason to believe they removed it.

In any case, having secure aim and aiming at the legs from the side always works, otherwise the ass end of the horse or the tip of the nose. Aim as far away from the shield as possible and you should be okay. Stabbing from the side allows you to avoid the shield much better, but stabbing from the front coupled with correct movement might allow you to stop the horse again if you move fast enough.

agi + long stabby polearm is a lot of fun the pierce damage on the bamboo isn't very high so that might be the problem, Light lance is pretty fun on foot too

11 less reach and 2 less speed, but +6 pierce damage.
