if the same logic applys then do it for inf as well

Came to say this.

Make infantry run slower if they are hurt.  Also make them swing weaker or not able to pull the bow back as far.

If you hit (with running horse) a fence, wall, tree, etc. - then let the horse lost a part of health.
In this way, cavalry will not rush with full speed and smack infantry to the wall, as they do now.
Also, if rider fall of the horse make him loose some health.

Just noticed this thread. I think this is a really good idea. Adds realism.

If this gets added, cav needs to be buffed in other places to stay balanced, such as :

- put back native lance's angle of attack on horseback

and/or

- buff the resilience of horses (HP/armor), especially those with low armor AND low HP

And as Joker said, the speed malus should be "capped", so that a horse with black bar HP isnt at 0.1% of his speed, but like 50% or more.

When a horse hits an object, it rears and is very easy to take down by archers from afar and infantry/cavalry close.
When a horseman fells off his horse he is also very easy to finish on the ground.

If you want to add damage to those 2 scenarios, then the horses shouldnt rear when it hit something, and the horseman should get up way faster, else its just completely unbalanced toward cavalry.

Most cavalry players wants this. It has been suggested many times before.
It would just make riding more challenging which would be a good thing.

But sadly it has not yet been implemented.

Why stop at just slowing down?

If you get hit in the leg, you shouldn't be able to walk anymore. Same goes with arms, can't hold that 2h anymore with that bolt running through your hand. Getting hit in the head with anything should immediately render you concussed and unable to see. What else, a horse that runs you down should shatter most of your bones, especially if its an armored one.

I could go on, but I'd rather just say leave the fucking game as it is.

I support this, if your character takes an arrow to the knee, he must forever be a town guard/defender in siege mode and nothing else until he gens.

On the grand scale of Dwarven global threat assessment, Acre is currently ranked pretty low. Just slightly below Yoshis and factions that no longer exist.

For a lot of You guys it makes sense, but not for me. The fact is, when a horse was hitted in battle, let's say by an arrow, it didn't slow down. It was running even faster, becase of the big adrenaline that wound gave it. Any additional wound was like an steroid. Of course, it didn't last long - the horse died in action, or just survived the battle and noticed, that it was hurt.

If You guys really want this game to be realistic in 100%, or close to that, Plated Chargers, horses with an armor of plates on it, or any at all, should be removed aswell. In medieval times horses weren't 'dressed' with armor - not even with, let's call it, a 'cloak' of cloth. Horses with heavy armor, or any at all, were used only in tournaments - just because it made them slow and un-manouverable.

So, in my opinion, it shouldn't be added to the game.

Greetings!

<it's a wall of text, so sorry in advance for any mistakes>

Not that I'd care a lot about that topic here, but your statement above is simply false. There are numerous historic depictions of battles, all showing horses with different levels of armour, depending on the time they depict. Especially with the rise of improved ranged weapons and long polearms, armour for horses became a must.
Joker makes a very good point.

I was talking about medieval ages around year 1410, specifically about Battle of Grunwald. I read articles of some historians about equipement of knights, who have fought in this battle, and nothing there was written about horse armor - there were said, that they had no armor at all. The speed of the horse, and it's manouverability was crucial on the battlefield.

What you've said is probably true, but not in the times that I thought and wrote about.

I don't know what to write more, anyway - thanks for the discussion.

I guess this was a single special case, and most likely the book was referring to the Lithuanians, because I am quite sure most of the Polish (at least their knights) and the Teutonics (I guess almost every knight and probably many of their sergeants and Halbbrüder/"half brohters") did armour their horses.

I found this link after short googling, and you could probably find many more if you spend some time.

This is not aboout correcting someone or showing how badass my historic knowledge is (because it is not), I just don't want you to remain with wrong information, as I think the whole matter is really interesting and deserves some attention and further research. So that's basically it for me now, as I made my point clear.

We agree that the OP should rather not be implemented, by the way.
