As a Croatian i don't consider myself eastern european ( if i had to pick a side of the world i'd say more south than east ) and definetley not even close to Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary ( i do have Hungarian last name so my roots are from Hungary from couple of centuries back ) cultural and laguage wise.

I have no problem being put in the same basket with ex-Yu nations, we share allot of cutural, language and other similarities and basically i consider us to be the same ( or very similar ) people of different religions in this Western Balkan region. Bulgaria, Romania are quite different and we share nothing in common.

So pweeety please add a ex-yu or whatever you want to call it option so i can vote.

cheers!

edit: Now when i look better at you options i feel you have a quite weird seeing of Europe and grouping people together.

That's all fine and dandy but it's not quite true. Also the main reason why people fight pointless wars. People who live close to each other are very similar or they become like that after some time. It's only natural. You guys were on other side of the state (Yugoslavia) so you weren't direct neighbours to Bulgarians/Romanians but they surely had impact on Serbian people, mixed marriages/kids etc. And Serbians did the same to Croatians and vice versa. The greater the distance, the less similar people are.

Today, it's pretty easy to get from one place to another, thousands of miles apart. And there's that murrican thing called globalization. I expect people to mix even more in the future and doubt that will matter who's coming from where because whole planet is going to become a place for all of us to live.

What separates people the most are religion and tradition. Although they are making us different (which is good), both are backwards and set in stone, can't adapt to changes. People change and both religion and tradition will die or be replaced by something similar but modern and not so ignorant.

Both our countries are similar in a way. It's not that common to see a person of middle eastern, african or asian descent in these lands. I believe that we're more racist than Brits but there aren't that many potential victims living among us, for us to show our true nature.

For someone living in France, Germany or England, it's pretty normal to live among people of different cultures and races.

Agreed to all that you wrote.

I am not a racist and don't care for religion and nationalist crap.

But if asked to choose i still recognise differences, ofc Serbia has a closer relationship with Bulgaria than Croatia, Croatian nobles also cross/married with Hungarians just to strenghten the power lines but i still don't think we are closer to Hungarians than we are to Serbians. Especially after decades of Yugoslavia where all the nations were enchouraged to mix together so i still thisk you and i are closer to each other and to bosnians, monteblack in spanish ppl etc. than croats are to Hungary or you are to Bulgaria.

once again if asked to group my nation I would choose to be grouped with ex-Yu nations just because that was the most recent mixing of our people. the further you go in history the wider the influences and connections you will come across. I mean one of the theories from where croatians came from even goes back to Iran. do i consider myslef part Iranain, no. my last name is Hungarian, do i have anything to do with Hungary or consider myself Hungarian, no. so it's only the matter of perspective, if you go far enough we all end up coming from the same place. mother Ethiopia!

I guess it does take some sort of a special skill to insult such a wide variety of people with an utterly useless poll.

The poll is mainly about area and some common languages and culture.  It's just to have a global view about cRPG players, not to insult anybody...

Balts and Russians can speak together (in russian) and understand each other.  For example.

You know, there are more than 250 countries in the world. I can't put them all in the poll.

But I'm curious about the "other". Any african country ? Could you detail (I may add 1 or 2 more country).

They are not poor, they just don't have soap because it's against their religion. Their roads are made of pure gold, but you don't see it under the layer of dirt. Too bad soap is forbidden in the Kalashnikov (chapter 1, verse 1: "Улла говорил: мыло нет").
