As a Croatian i don't consider myself eastern european ( if i had to pick a side of the world i'd say more south than east ) and definetley not even close to Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary ( i do have Hungarian last name so my roots are from Hungary from couple of centuries back ) cultural and laguage wise.
I have no problem being put in the same basket with ex-Yu nations, we share allot of cutural, language and other similarities and basically i consider us to be the same ( or very similar ) people of different religions in this Western Balkan region. Bulgaria, Romania are quite different and we share nothing in common.
So pweeety please add a ex-yu or whatever you want to call it option so i can vote.
cheers!
edit: Now when i look better at you options i feel you have a quite weird seeing of Europe and grouping people together.
That's all fine and dandy but it's not quite true. Also the main reason why people fight pointless wars. People who live close to each other are very similar or they become like that after some time. It's only natural. You guys were on other side of the state (Yugoslavia) so you weren't direct neighbours to Bulgarians/Romanians but they surely had impact on Serbian people, mixed marriages/kids etc. And Serbians did the same to Croatians and vice versa. The greater the distance, the less similar people are.
Today, it's pretty easy to get from one place to another, thousands of miles apart. And there's that murrican thing called globalization. I expect people to mix even more in the future and doubt that will matter who's coming from where because whole planet is going to become a place for all of us to live.
What separates people the most are religion and tradition. Although they are making us different (which is good), both are backwards and set in stone, can't adapt to changes. People change and both religion and tradition will die or be replaced by something similar but modern and not so ignorant.
Both our countries are similar in a way. It's not that common to see a person of middle eastern, african or asian descent in these lands. I believe that we're more racist than Brits but there aren't that many potential victims living among us, for us to show our true nature.
For someone living in France, Germany or England, it's pretty normal to live among people of different cultures and races.
