Deciding your own Main and Alt

I make allot of characters and i got 5 atm. I made one guy my main but later stopped playing on him cause i got bored and by that time i had made another charater which i almost have reached 1st gen with (since i play allot on different characters it takes me f**king ages to retire :p ) and i then joined a clan with him, and since he is my alt i cant make him my main. I cant go to start battles with my clan etc... and i really dont like to start over just to get a main.

So to the point.. the only reason i can see that switching between mains and alts before (when you could) where to benefit in strat battles after what you needed.
Now you are ether play on one character or not receive the special things in having a main. I suggest that you (devs ofc) put a cooldown on switching mains (you should be able to switch yourself), then you cant really plan out who and what your going to have on a start battle (only planned once i suppose), and put the cooldown on like i dont know a week or two.

Oh, and if any devs takes a look please make Zangramash to my main insteed :p

I think you can only make a new main after youve deleted your old main - make a NEW alt - set that as your main..
You can not make alts that were already made a main, it has to be a new character created after your main got deleted.

Just respec your main. Or play to retirement and use a new build.

play them both to 31+ then retire and change their names and when you level them up again change their roles to suit you. That is what I did anyways.

I think its more of a generation problem, as generations are character bound, name change will just change the name but it wont make your main the generation your alt is.  :)

I think it would make sense if the generation bonus is the same for all your alts. because in fact i played the same amount of time (even a little less) when i play 1 charakter through 5 generation as if I play 5 alts throug 1 generation. So it doesn't make sense to me that I get more bonus for the first option.

well, the only benefits of a main are that it can join Strategus battles and an advanced marketplace thing, other then that its just the xp bonus. so what i'm understanding is that you want easy leveling for all your alts, making the looms increase in quantity even more. meh, I don't like it.

No! what I am saying is that it is not fair that you get more xp bonus when you retire five times with the same character than when you retire five times with different Alts.
As it is now you get more xp when you only play one character all the time. But I like to switch between different stiles.
and increasing the looms even more is not a problem for me. I play since half year with 1 main and 3 alts and only have one loomed item (+3). I would not mind getting some more to keep up with all the full loomed old scoundrel.

I don't want to sound like a Dick....but why would you ever do this? Why didn't you just play the main, respect for looms, and use skip the fun characters that you transfer looms too?

That gives you two playstyles to switch between every week. That is essentially two hybrids, which equates to 4classes. What more do you need?

I disagree with your suggestion. It is easily abused and you should have thought it through before wasting hours and hours of time.

Saying its my fault sounds weird.
Tell me how you are going to abuse it? Two weeks of cooldown is hard to abuse, then after you have choosen your new main, lets say they just put a two day cooldown before you can join any strat battles and do other things such as tickets etc.

Oh and saying you dont want to sound like a dick makes you sound like one.

If anyone remembers strat one, they would know of players sharing characters switching them about to whatever battle/strategy was available. It generated a team, who would do such things, a huge advantage of picking any class they wanted with the same team/clan. The skill level, cohesion, and willingness to follow orders to the letter is a major advantage that many clans bring.

I'm not going to name drop examples of those who abused this, but it often was a make/break to winning battles over other armies.

Thats the ide with the coldown effect, there might still be some abusing but its going to be much harder with a 2 weeks coldown after switching to a new main, and after you have picked a new main you have to wait 2 days before you can acces the special features.

Ill edit the first post where i will explain better.

overall this system gets too complicated.

i suggested it before and still am of the opinion the following would work best for several reasons.

1 Character only:
- able to respec any time, without loss of XP, but perhaps the need to pay 100k gold
- saving character builts, which then could be loaded when you need them
- still generations for looming and addional XP/gold for multipliers

advantages:

- you are more flexible for strategus and maybe from that more organized battles can evolve, "hey guys we need more archers less shielders this battle", depending on gear or overall tactic the battle coordinator would choose

- no XP .. time is going down the sewer

- making more generations would make sense again as you need more beefed up gear for different builts you want to play on the offical servers

disatvantages:
- it would go against the one rule chadz wanted us to obay to, to live with our choices
- current options like STF, alts, training lessons everything which build up around the core issue becomes obsolete
- multiclaning impossible
learn from the past, live the moment, dream of the future

speak very nicely to the devs. I had the same problem once, and I deleted my main so didn't even have one! But the very lovely devs made my alt my main and brought back my previous main as an alt :D
