Roman / Greek Armor

I saw some oooold posts about this and i thought i might bring it up again. I don't think the Roman armor that we got access to now can count as Roman armor.
There is Samurai armor Mongolian armor, Viking armor etc. Why not Roman/Greek/Celtic/Carthaginian? We don't need all of those factions armor pieces but mainly Roman and Greek.

I don't see a strict historical timeline limit in this mod so why should we not have Roman/Greek armor? It's one important part in history, Europe and mankind's development.  Freaking barbarians becoming civilized isn't that something important?  :)
There is also already a couple of Roman time mods so it shouldn't be to hard to find some good looking armor pieces and maybe polish them a bit if needed.

So what would then be the reason to keep us away from wearing this cool looking armor?
From what i have read the only reason is that you (the Devs) don't like ancient armor, which i don't get. Why? Whats so bad?  :(

Well ask for it, but the armor and weaponry im talking about is still medieval, the gun is hardly 400 years old if not even less than 300. And its still in the same category compared to tanks etc... your argument isn't that vaild. AND without the Romans things would probably taken much longer time to develop. Since of there more "sophisticated" way of living and they where the first democratic people of there time :)

You basically awnsered your own question there. This game wants to stick to a certain timeline(from what the devs have said atleast). Samurai, mongolian, viking (more popular to the mainstream media) armors do fall in the same timeline with the usual medieval armors and weapons.

Roman/Greek/Celtic/Carthagarian(again the more popular ones known to media) weapons and armors unfortunately dont make it.

I have seen you post on other threads about this. The comments i have read is where you are against getting them, why they hate?

You don't see a strict timeline regulation in the equipment in the game?
What game are you playing? :)

All weapons and armors from the the "middle ages" period roughly 1000-1500 AD.

I dont remember exactly hating them. Mybe I did once....i dont remember anymore. But Ive become slightly more tolerant I assure you. I like the roman era and its armors and weapons. But I think that romanstuff should stick....well...to roman era. Those 4 helmets are later. Those are infact medieval. The things you want are before medieval.

Those 4 helmets are as close to roman as this mod is ever gonna get. If you want these
(click to show/hide)
You can pretty much keep on dreaming. Not my words. Devs words.

This game does have a strict timeline. I too am suprised you havent spot it.

Its like Id gladly bash a guys face in with a massive dildo or a rockquitar in GTA something, but stick these weapons in lets say in a Total War game and it kills the whole immersion.

2 people riding the same horse is historically fitting for the game setting AND adds a new dynamic for the game that adds to tactics and team play.

Greek/Roman armors do none of these things, I'm sorry to report.

Well the roman empire fell 1453 AD (the East side) West fell 476 AD, but as you said

shouldn't there be Roman Armor then? They had territory in 453 years during the timeline you described.

Well we already have Roman style sword (Spathion) and Board Shield and Greek style helmet (Barbutte). I was thinking about this the other day, we have Nordic Swords and rapier-style Espadas, i can assure you we are dealing with vastly different historical periods. Some of those 1handed swords are contemporary with muskets, so let's not get too sniffy about the idea of getting armour from a marginally earlier period, especially when we already have some gear from the era. So what's not to like?

Viking/Saxon are contemporary with Late Roman Empire. Ancient Greece is pushing it, but i wouldn't judge if they brought it in. Hell, if they made a onehanded Bronze Sword i'd use it xD even if it had justifiably shitty stats.

All the weapons you listed are from the medieval period.  Nordic-style swords (which are often actually of frankish design) were in use at the battle of hastings, for example. (year 1050).

The barbutte is actually an italian helmet that had its design based on "neo-classicalism".

The side sword and esapadas were indeed used along-side firearms...but they were also in use before firearms were widely used.  In fact, speaking of firearms, there were primitive firearms used in the medieval era, though the devs stated they will not be put in game.

We are dealing with a vast historidal period of about 500 years, so there will be large differences in technology and weapon designs from the years 1000-1500...but it is one uniform period that started with the end of the dark ages and the beginning of modern medieval armies (Battle of Hastings) and ends with just before the renaissance.

The "Roman" empire you have referenced here corresponds to the "Byzantine" medieval equipment we have in game right now.

They didn't use the classical gladius or armor during that period.
