In fact this has been Bayern's modus operandi for years before they finally decided to get some international noteworthy players like Ribery or Robben. Neuer, Podolski, Ballack, Klose and many more of their current and former team have all been key players in their respective clubs before Bayern came around waving some dollar notes into their faces.
About the time they leaked the info: I rather think the purpose is to drag public attention away from Uli Hoeneß's (one of their main officials) tax evasion problems...
About the CL semifinals: I'm still kinda speechless. My guess was that Dortmund could possibly make it to the final (they've beat Real in the group stage) and that Bayern would get wiped by Barca. I have no clue what went wrong here for the Spanish teams.
