The "nerf" is not really a nerf. Now, instead of 1 more stack of bolts, you are forced to carry a good 1h weapon with you so you can fight in melee.

Sure, you can kite less but now you can actually kill efficiently in melee. You can have a nordic short sword ffs.

So chill and enjoy not being a free kill for any melee that can reach you.

How is your HX worthless? I mean the bolt weight isn't going to affect your speed- you're on a horse, and the Light Crossbow being 2 slots really just means you get less ammo. Does that mean before this your HX was worthless until your last stack of bolts? Gotta fire off two whole quivers before they actually start doing damage or some witchcraft?

-The patch had very little effect on "pure" xbowmen (if any really exist)

-they could carry a sidearm anyways (most pure xbowmen would go heavy xbow/arb. There is no incentive not to.) leaving room for a 0-slot weapon. This would not be used to fight back though because of no points in PS (0 PS with 1 wpf is glance-glance-glance). On a side note, I run a hybrid build with 5 PS and 101 1h and I still glance A LOT on heavy plate or it takes 10-12 hits to bring someone in heavy plate down.

-if you carry 2 bags of bolts into battle as a pure xbowman, you've gained two pounds when you probably are already wearing light armor (and have very high athletics, probably around 9 or 10). Essentially, you're still super fast.

-Melee viability is not increased against str/armor crutching melee (lack of 0-slot pierce/blunt weapon combined with 0 PS and 1 1H wpf is bad). If you're referring to hybrid builds, they usually don't take more than 1 bag of steel bolts into battle anyways and had room for a one slot 1H before the patch was released.

Oh lol. Well, only carrying 1 Xbow still doesn't make it "worthless" by any stretch of the imagination, as there's no part of dude's build that suffers at all from the change, just the loadout he's used to.

u say just the loadout i didnt take 2 stacks took 1 plys my xbow and a melee weapon usually a bar mace or great axe for those pesky face hugging shielders. and like ide said itd be awsome if there were some more 1slot 2hd choices and the ability to use higher pd. as an archer u have to be a balanced build to do anything u cant str crutch u cant be an agi crutch either. for str because ure required to have balanced str and agi to be an archer u cant just load up on str and go shooting away cause of the wpf requirement to use pd. and if that did get changed so we could use higher pd so we could be more str biased we wouldnt be able to kite as easily because of the lower ath and less accurate from the reduced wpf

Well yeah, and I've been advocating that for awhile now. Buffing Strength/PD based archery would have the natural effect of at least some of the population going that route, and reducing kiting somewhat thereby.
