In my first strat battle ever, I was unarmored (something I still do religiously in battle and siege but no longer do in strat, because of this story). In the first, I don't know, seven minutes of the battle, while both teams' infantry was just holding in a shield-wall, ranged was having at it and cav was riding around the edge of the whole field looking for each other/stragglers, I died to archer fire about 20 times.
The whole team had either 1 or 0 deaths, and I had 20.
I later got a few kills when the infantry walls finally clashed, but it didn't make up for the shame.
I wish it had been a town siege, so that I could put a small tattoo on my body-texture that says "remember ___", with 20 little hashmarks. It would help me strive to be an even more devoted strat maniac.
