Seems like the majority want neutral fiefs to be a part of this game. But the few No will remind me that this has to be handled with care, else it turns into a bad gameplay idea.

I'm computing all names I can get my hands on of various cultures (Slavic, Byzantine, Germanic, Turko-Semitic... I grossly followed EU4 cultural borders) that will form the "names library" for when you choose your character and their subsequent heirs. This will be the biggest name library of the game with thousands of entries.
I hate slavs already, so many variations in the language its taking up half the names entries  :P


There will also be a geographical library (environment), a fief library (settlements), a neutral fief library (buildings), a faction library.
Those library are meant to give semi-freedom for the players, while still controlling which names will be in the game : it is a middleground between "cant choose your name yourself" and "you can type whatever you want" (to avoid fief's names like SUCKMYCOCK or faction name chocolate chip cookie).




1) Already nailed the geographical library (I will name parts of the map using those) using a dithematic english word generator.

That I will combine with the terrain type I already mentioned (plain, desert, artic, forest...) + some "bonus" words I computed that describes an environment.

Then it would create things like :  Aelton Woods, Windlyn Savanna, Mormood Swamp, Corwald Spires, Dorkeep Plains,  Castleborough Bridge, Summeracre Desert, Aelhurst Shore, etc...
Since each of those will describe a pretty huge amount of lands, I wont have to use much even on the first region. It will help describe a place where there is still no standing fiefs. It wont be renamable.



2) the neutral fiefs library is done for the inns (will need to work on churches and stables names). It wont be renamble, they will be chosen when automatically when they are built.

3) Faction library is pretty much nailed, but I will have to select those that are more fit than the others very cautiously, most of them looks too fantasyish.  They will be namable only at the first character creation (and maybe under some special circumstances).

4) Fiefs library is still not done, because I'm still working on exactly what will be all the different fiefs type there will be in the game (3 village type, 3 castle type, 3 city type are confirmed). The fiefs will be (re)namable when they are built / captured or razed/re-built.




All this just today, didnt find time nor the will to work at all the past week.
We are going to work on those library and bring you a map preview with them included, asap.

Gotta say this (STB) makes managing your army (or a fief I imagine too) so much easier than before.

I'm using this on Firefox, would someone who uses Chrome be able to use these plugins also (I'm assuming not)?  If not, is there a chrome plug-in they can use that does something similar?

STB is completely compatible with chrome and firefox. You should encounter 0 compatibility issues.

If you encounter a glitch or bug, here are the 4 things to do first :

- be in transfer range of a player/fief (enable the transfer filters)
- display the inventory (update the item list) then the info page
- clear your cache/cookies
- remove your strategus add-ons and (re)install the latest version

New poll in place, on the subject of "Who are you going to be?"


At character creation, you will be asked, once and for all, from where your character hail from.

The purpose of this is three-fold:

You will have your character and a family, from which your heir will come from and become the new character if your previous one is unavailable (captured, wounded or dead).
It will follow the Medieval 2 Total war family tree system.

Except that you will be free to choose a relatively realist family name and first character name at the creation, and not forced to go into the footsteps of someone who is King already, since everyone will start from scratch.




This will be combined with a "Title" and a "Surname" name library which will be available depending on your actions in the game. You will be able to choose only ONE TITLE and ONE SURNAME from the available list you have (like titles in cRPG).

Examples:

Titles will be 100% based on what you own:

So in the end, if you were a male of the Slavs (Eastern Europe) that had been very successful at conquering stuff after playing for a few weeks/months, and had personaly fought many battles and won them all, your full name could look like :


Title + name + house + surname
King Vitomir KOWALCZYK the Conqueror




Since your characters will live many days, you will have time to know their names and family name, so the first few hours of "why do I have to control a guy which name I had to pick from a list of hundreds of other names?  :?" should transform in "I am roleplaying a guy which name is X Y, I love him, I hope he will not die and have many children :D" with due time.

Players will be able to select what they want in the list, following the Region -> Culture category.
Some full names may look weird, but they still remain globally coherent.
You will be free to custom select until something fit.


Titles/surnames and other names library are pretty much done but cannot be put to preview.




Next update should REALLY be about an improved map design.
Quite got lost into this "house" theme for a week or two  :P

Script ain't working properly Butan(a). I have to delete the cache everytime i go to the map, not a big deal but would be cool if you helped me *Ahem* Anyways, this is awesome, and i really enjoy the details you've put into it making it alot easier organising armies! Over and out

I've found it only works correctly inside fiefs.

I am using firefox and greasemonkey, and when i press inventory i see the green text saying Items loaded ! but when i go back to info its only ? ? ? all over the place except for gold and troops

Doesnt sound normal at all, you should see what you see in the inventory.


Try those steps again and report back :


- be in transfer range of a player/fief (it enables the transfer filters)
- display the inventory (it updates the item list) then the info page
- clear your cache/cookies
- remove your strategus add-ons and (re)install the latest version
- check again
