At character creation, you will be asked, once and for all, from where your character hail from.

loginThe purpose of this is three-fold:
- your characters names will come from a huge library that is 100% medieval (more immersion, less freedom); from there, 2 things will happen:
* the House you will have chosen in the list (matching the region of the world you chose, like Western Europe) will be the name of your family AND the name of your faction (this is the name you will bear for all eternity)
* the Name you will have chosen in the list (matching the culture of the world you chose, like Latin) will be the name of your first character; all subsequent characters will come from the same pool (your children)
A House will be the property of the player who chose it first, as long as it is used (once it is selected, it becomes unavailable in the House name pool); there can be only one!
A Name can be used by as many players/characters as there will be players and characters in the game; if a second character appears with the same name in the same family, he will be named "name" II; if another player has the name of another, they will have to bear the confusion like in real life
You will have your character and a family, from which your heir will come from and become the new character if your previous one is unavailable (captured, wounded or dead).
It will follow the Medieval 2 Total war family tree system.

This will be combined with a "Title" and a "Surname" name library which will be available depending on your actions in the game. You will be able to choose only ONE TITLE and ONE SURNAME from the available list you have (like titles in cRPG).
Examples:
Titles will be 100% based on what you own:
- if you own 1 Fief of any type, you can have the title "Noble" in front of your name
- if you own 5 Fiefs of any type, you can have the title "Lord" in front of your name
- if you own 15 Fiefs of any type, you can have the title "Overlord" in front of your name
- if you own 1 Port-type settlement, you can have the title "Fisherman" in front of your name
- if you own 3 Port-type settlement, you can have the title "Navigator" in front of your name
- if you own 9 Port-type settlement, you can have the title "Sea Master" in front of your name
- if you own 1 Castle-type settlement, you can have the title "Drill Sergeant" in front of your name
- if you own 5 Castle-type settlement, you can have the title "Captain" in front of your name
- if you own 15 Castle-type settlement, you can have the title "Commander" in front of your name
- if you own 1 Village-type settlement, you can have the title "Farmer" in front of your name
- if you own 5 Village-type settlement, you can have the title "Land Holder" in front of your name
- if you own 15 Village-type settlement, you can have the title "Magnate" in front of your name
- if you own 1 Capital-type settlement, you can have the title "Count" in front of your name
- if you own 2 Capital-type settlement, you can have the title "Duke" in front of your name
- if you own 3 Capital-type settlement, you can have the title "King" in front of your name
Surnames will be 100% based on what you do:
- if you fought 1 battle, you can have the surname "the Battle-tested"
- if you fought 5 battles, you can have the surname "the Battle-trained"
- if you fought 20 battles, you can have the surname "the Battle-scarred"
- if you captured X fief(s), you can have the surname X
- if you pillaged Y fief(s), you can have the surname Y
- if you raped someone butthole, you can have the surname "the Gay"
- etc... you get the idea by now
So in the end, if you were a male of the Slavs (Eastern Europe) that had been very successful at conquering stuff after playing for a few weeks/months, and had personaly fought many battles and won them all, your full name could look like :
Title + name + house + surname
King Vitomir KOWALCZYK the Conqueror
Since your characters will live many days, you will have time to know their names and family name, so the first few hours of "why do I have to control a guy which name I had to pick from a list of hundreds of other names?
" should transform in "I am roleplaying a guy which name is X Y, I love him, I hope he will not die and have many children
" with due time.
Those that ever played any Total war which had the family tree system implemented know what I'm talking about.
Still got to work on a random portraits system, if you know a free medieval portrait pack free of use, pm me
