I still think it's something very simple, like +1 damage or armor. It can affect any gear that you are wearing at the time, just like heirlooming. It's also supposed to be rare (I and many others still haven't seen this message), so I don't expect the bonuses to be too trivial.

The wording of the phrase is a lot like RPG code for "you've leveled up." It could be that all/one of the pieces of gear you are wearing has "leveled up" and increased many of its stats. We just can't see the increases. At least not yet. Honestly, how noticeable is a single +1 damage, speed, or armor in practice?

Also, there has to be something better than "chadztext."

I don't think it is this because as far as I know you cannot change items on the fly, each item needs it's own database entry (hence heirlooms are copies of the regular items with better stats). Much more likely a hidden +x to some stats I'd guess.

Generally more likely, however it is possible to change the values after it has left the database, for example, when you query the database and put it into a variable the character table in the database could have a "bonus" and a "item with bonus" and if ("item with bonus" == "item") then "item damage" =  "item damage" + "bonus" and such like, but that's just saying that it is do-able.

Still none the wiser though, although I do enjoy trying to work out what the different things added do, I think there becomes a limit on how long I find it worthwhile working it out.

The value could be invisible and not really linked to the items file like people said. It could be coded on the site then passed onto the game like so. Say someone has a bonus for their sword. It's saved on a spreadsheet of their character on their site. Maybe bonus +1 dmg to sword. Everytime a player starts to join a server and loads his character it reads it back to the game giving it just a mutual increase to the sword by +1 applied to hit or etc.

Remember that they did put in a lot of background coding (that I can't even begin to understand the depth of) with this patch. They have a lot more control over what they can change now.

Ah, to clarify I was talking about the Warband Engine, afaik you need an extra entry in that database for every item with different stats. Still, only looked a bit or they might have changed it, but then I wonder why they still have heirlooms as seperate items around.

Yes, I was just saying you can change the values once you have queried the database, but I agree that it would be relatively unviable if everyone on the server had to have these calculations done to multiple items rather than just one query to the database that gets it all.

As I say, i'm just going to sit here and wait for the answer lol

Just got it right after I spawned in a round.  Was doing fairly well a few rounds before, but I was 2 and 3 that round so nothing fancy there.

I wasn't close to leveling.

My current stats at the time of receiving the message:

Age34 [19]
Generation6
Gold221,892
Experience562,350
+82,351
Level up at644,701
Kills74
Deaths94
Rank#19394

I haven't yet checked to see if my items changed at all, but yeah.

Yay... I guess?

Sword of war, sugerloaf helmet, heraldic transitional armor, plate mittens, khergit guard boots.  I think the set looks pretty good combined but it isn't by any means a 'set'.

The only connection (which is quite possibly coincidence) is that I got the text message during the rollback period as a sword & boarder.  I know I was wearing my heraldic transitional armor at that time, but I don't think any of the other pieces were the same... MAYBE the plate mittens.

e: I confirmed that the equipment in my inventory I wore is indistinguishable from new items on the website, ie there is no change in stats that is visible.  I'll have to confirm the same thing happens in game but I doubt I'll see any change.

The set has to be just whatever yourcharacter is using, and not any predefined criteria.

I was using a Warbow, two Bodkin quivers, a hammer, a felt cap, Red Wispy Gauntlets, Nomad Boots and a Tribal Warriors Outfit.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

We've done 5 pages more of speculation. Now we want another carrot.
