Unbalanced - only a problem if feinting, right?

Subject is the question...

Haven't played with Unbalanced weapons much yet. But, to be clear, the tag means you can't stop your attack once it's started, yeah? Seems like this would only come into play when trying to feint. Is it really noticeable otherwise?

It feels different when swinging too.

You can feint, btw, you just have to hold the block a bit longer.

It affects any situation in which you would want to cancel your attack. If a teammate moves into your swing radius, if the enemy moves slightly out of reach, etc. Once your chamber animation ends, you are committed to your swing (well, you can drop your weapon before hitting a teammate as a last ditch move).

See, here's what I'm looking at... basically, the difference between the 2h Great Axe and the Polearm Long War Axe...

2h Great Axe at +3: Speed: 95; Length: 96; Swing: 49 cut; Unbalanced;
Reach after adjustments for animation:
Overhead = 96+15=111
Left-to-right = 96+17=113
Right-to-left = 96+13=109

Polearm Long War Axe at +3: Speed: 93; Length: 123; Swing: 47 cut; Balanced;
Reach after adjustments for animation:
Overhead = 123-15=108
Left-to-right = 123-7=115
Right-to-left = 123-2=121

Adjusted for animations, the reach difference is negligible, making the 2h Great Axe basically superior - faster, more damaging, lower technical length means lesser runspeed penalty. However, it's unbalanced, and I just can't wrap my head around how much that matters... but I don't want to make a whole new character just to try it out. STF, I guess.

In the end though, I'm just way more attracted to polearms' animations... I don't know if I could lose them.

Axephante, 2h definitely wins with the shorter axes. Try a Long Bardiche; outreaches the 2h axes, has a useful thrust attack, and not unbalanced.

If you go 2h, it's hard to look past the Persian Battle Axe; will out damage the morningstar on many targets. Also has an amazing texture if you use Final Boss' Heirloom Pack.

The only unbalanced 2her I, personally, find worth using is the morningstar, otherwise, abilities speaking, i'd pick any pole over 2her for shieldbreaking.

Morningstar is just hella sexy!
I loot corpses of their golden teeth.
But he'll be around somewhere between Heaven and The Devil, because neither of them will take him in, and he'll be farting loudly and singing a filthy song.

i'll be there at around

If you feint fast enough you won't feel the unbalanced thing kick in.

Just confirming what others have said.  You can still feint if you do it right after you start your swing forward.  But you can't stop it half way through your swing (or right before you land your hit) like you can with unbalanced weapons.

I never have an issue feinting with unbalanced weapons, it's only a problem for trying to cancel your attack (like if an enemy dies and your teammates standing over his body)

I will say, I often get thrown off guard by an unbalanced weapon feinting. I think it is mostly just that I don't expect an unbalanced weapon to be feinting (specifically more then one feint).

As far as I'm concerned, I have rarely managed to tell the difference between a balanced and unbalanced weapon. Maybe I'm used to them, but as far as feinting is concerned, I can assure you it does not have an influence upon it. Simple proof : I often kill players by swinging my bardiche, stopping it right before it hits them and then swing again.
I feint the same way with a longsword than with an unbalanced bardiche.
I did notice that my time to recover a missed swing is slighty longer though. I don't know if that is due to speed rating or unbalanced tag though.

to me, seems like the recovery time before you can block is much higher on unbalanced weapons.  So if you miss a swing and wif into the air, you're in trouble

18 pierce is a total liability, not useful.
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.
