Ofcourse LoL is a success, biggest game right now. Thing is, will it last in the long run? dota has lasted for many years probably because it has so many things to it which makes it not feel repetative. LoL is easy to learn, not sure if hard to master but it lacks the depth dota has. People will eventually get bored me thinks.

I think if it was a really boring game in the high end / pro scene I'd be dead already, but it's been going on for years. People get bored of every game and switch to the newer iteration sooner or later anyway.

League of Legends will stay aslong as Riot fuels it with money, pays professional players, shitload of tournaments, etc.

Also I'm kinda jealous of the ranking system League of Legends has, DOTA 2 has is doing shitty at that part.

Agree, ranking system is the one thing that I would really like to have from LoL.

Denying was part of dota aswell and Riot didn't port it over, also a reason why LoL is an awesome fail for me. Anyway, without last hitting it becomes a bit boring though after all the most important part of a game is PvP anyway, so it may work without having it as important mechanic.

We'll see, they are far from being done with the game anyway and usually most games Blizzard takes their hands on, are quite good. Though of course Diablo 3 was a fail and the latest WoW addons as well, they simply went too casual.

You obviously misunderstood what he meant by unique. Unique compared to each other, not unique-in-the-whole-wide-world. Obviously: the whole point is that those heroes are from other games.
