Well Dota was build in the Wc3 engine and kind of inspired by the hero system that Wc3 had. IF you play through the Singel Player or a normal match you can see that the hero aspect of neutral camps and hero vs hero was there, along with loot items. But yeah seeing Blizzard coming out with their own Dota-ish game with the same wc3 models just modified, it looks kinda cool.

Well, if someone has the right to do a dota game it's Blizzard after all because all the skills and stuff are their idea (most are, many got modified by now but are based on their idea).

What I don't like about their "dota" is, that they'll include Starcraft and Diablo stuff as well, ie. Arthas fighting vs Diablo. I for example never liked Starcraft stuff, but I'm into Warcraft and Diablo though.
AND Blizzard got the money and knowledge to do some great stuff, though they could have done it far earlier; now they noticed that dota games became really popular they want a part of the cake as well.

If anyone has the right to do a DotA game it's the developers of DotA, not Blizzard. Skills and "stuff" are peripheral, what made and makes DotA is the gameplay and concept, which Blizzard had no part in creating.

It's just a mod for Warcraft is all Blizzard has got to do with it.

The bad one went to Riot and failed, the good one went to Valve and created a good game.
Still Blizzard gave the base idea of it as they already had the hero system in their game, special units + skills which was used for dota later on and many other maps. Of course they didn't create dota but better them than Riot games anyway. Just hope they won't do another casual shit game.

That's numbers. Numbers do mean nothing. People only play LoL because it's a damn easy game and everyone can play it and win. For the dota genre, that's a bad way to go, for the developers it's an easy way to go because people want to win and have an easy time.

And you just described why it isn't a failure, it works for them pretty well in my opinion

Never played league, though, so I can't comment on how it plays out. Everyone says it's easier, but I haven't experienced it.

If it was the shittiest game ever it wouldn't have so many players. I'd say they're pretty fucking successful. Who cares if it's casual or not, you are not forced to play it. And yes numbers do mean something.

The numbers, in fact, define what's a failure or a success, especially in business. LoL is a definite success.
