Well, dunno about that really. Got a lot of hours in Dota2 and people seem alright, HoN and LoL is a nuthouse from what I heard 

Dota 2 is harder and more punishing as well, might put the kids off the game 

dota 2 is not more punishing than hon, the mechanics are identicle. if anything its better for kids because dota has way less heros and a huge input lag compared to hon. but hon is probably more of a nut house I'll give you that.

I played my first match of Dota, ever.

Listened to your advice, I tried Lich first in a bot match, was very enjoyable to play, so I thought I'll try it in action.

Game starts, but I did a nice fail and left single draft in. Therefore I had a limited option, I picked Lion.
Started quickreading/sucking up as much information as possible, also got a bit of an advice from my team.

Turned out to be very straightforward and fun to use.
(I still died too much because of overextending, experimenting, skills not working the way I thought, lack of knowledge. Trial 'n Error baby.)

Here are the results;

I had NO idea what the F I'm doing almost during the whole game. Was good though.

inb4 I'm a noob. I know. If not for that Weaver holding hands carrying me through, we would've had a tougher match.

I can only say that you'll be a very good dota player in no time. Score is great, item build is truly great, hero choice for a beginner is also great.

I mostly play Windrunner semi-carry, but I'm fine with playing Bounty Hunter, Chaos Knight, Axe, Batrider (one of my favourites), Dragon Knight and I guess Outworld Devourer.

Lion is a overall great support, allthough kind of a ks'er which can be a pain for carries since they need the kill gold. But hex and stun very nice and mana drain for pretty much unlimited mana ^^ Also finger of death is fucking badass.

If you want to try out another quite similar support try Shadow shaman (my fav hero got the super badass ricehat set for him) he is also not so hard and very helpful in fights, 1 hex 1 shackle = disabling 2 enemies at the same time. And then his ulti mass serpent ward can trap enemies, push towers etc :D.

Fun thing is I killed a level 25 guy who farmed the others entire game with my 13lv lion. haha

Does anyone still have any spare keys left? I signed up for the beta a little while ago but I borked one of the surveys because it seemed to assume I had played the first one. Although I did watch my buddy play the W3 custom games way back in the day.

Gotta be honest, most begin matches are pretty annoying if you're new, everyone is new and alot of people can't get hooked on the game and just quit, in a few games nobody will do that anymore.
