valve fired a caster mid cast from the shanghai major is what i heard
other than that the quality of the majors is utter shit, hours long delays and crap production value pretty much
Not just a caster. The fucking host. James "2GD" Harding. Who honestly is not the most technically sound host, as apposed to someone like Redeye at least. But he was the one keeping things going. James is more of a comedian than anything, but he is also very good at keeping conversations going and makes things flow. Those huge ass delays on games, he was the only one really making it somewhat tolerable.
Other than that, like you said, the whole tournament is a shitshow. Games being delayed for huge amounts of time, multiple problems even when we eventually get in game (screens freezing in game even hearing audio still, casters mics cutting out, etc), audio is shit (people are either too quiet, or like if we are at the analysts couch's, mics are just straight up turned off FOR THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME NO NEED TO FIX THAT I GUESS), overlays and pop ups are not coming up when they are supposed to or are wrong (when they want to show the brackets and they don't come up on screen for 5-10 minutes, getting in game and the casters name pops up but it's the wrong casters), and streams just straight up crashing. The second stream showing the second set of games is hardly up, at least I've hardly seen them, and they crash mid game. I.E. VG and Fnatic were having a fairly good game 1 coming to a fairly nail biting what looked to be conclusion, but oh boy you know that stream shut right down when the high ground was getting pushed, and didn't get to see the ending.
You would think people would learn about hosting things in China after the most recent events. Nanyang, DAC, and oh holy shit the worst, WCA, all were god awful clusterfucks.
