... although 'leather lamellar armor' is a fantasy reenactment-only armor; it never existed historically where leather was used primarily for backing (outside of the Far East), as far as reliable sources go. Some chroniclers (like Jean Froissart) describes Medieval 'cuir bouilli' but its use as armor is not well-demonstrated, in fact not a single piece has survived to this day, despite thousands and thousands of leather finds in 5500 years of archaeological record.
